O.o I have. done. that. too. Not to feed a cat, but dragging myself extraordinary distances to get out of walking.
Glad to know I'm not the only obscenely lazy person in the world. :P
Miss Friendship wrote:I should go on a rant to counteract yours, but I don't really feel like it.
That's because you can't, because to be able to do so would imply that there are good things about rain beyond nourishment of the ground, which there aren't. :P

An embarrassing number. :anxious:
Miss Friendship wrote:Do you have any desire to be a Mod? You would be a good one
I kind of do, because I have a lot of interest in the running of the board, but I'm still a little unsure, given my track record of rather poor performance moderating the ToO.

But thank you. :)

I need some ideas so I figured you'd have some good advice :anxious:
Money. :P But then again, I'm a college student.

Hmm...if money is no object, then my list would be thus:

1. Pair of brown boots (preferably cowgirl style/riding boots - my old pair got irreparably damaged and I need some boots that go along with outfits with gold and earthy tones)
2. Plaid button downs in warm colors (I had to toss out a pink chiffon one today because it had gotten too damaged :( )
3. Black flats
4. Black leather bag large enough to hold a sketchbook and miscellaneous art supplies
5. Brown over-the-shoulder bag
6. Plain pink blouses (I only have one on hand)
7. Red sweater
8. Scarves in various floral patterns
9. Pearl earrings/necklace (I need some for business casual occasions)
10. Black or silver watch (mine is pink, which doesn't always go with my outfit)
Paula wrote:What are your top 5 essentials for your every day wardrobe?
You mean, aside from "clothes"? ;)

What I wear kind of depends on my mood, honestly, but I can probably think of some things I usually try to do. There's no universal type of clothing; a lot of times, you have to pay attention to what colors look best on you and what cuts of clothing best fit your shape.

1. All of my tops and dresses (save for one pale pink dress) are in fairly bright, bold colors; I have very pale skin, so I look best in colors that stand out.
2. If I'm wearing a non-maxi dress/skirt, I try to narrow the waist as much as I can; I have an hourglass figure, which means that A-line skirts look best on me. I have a babydoll dress that I usually wear with a belt around the waist, and I have some pleated skirts that I wear high-waisted with a blouse tucked in.
3. Honestly, since I'm going to college in Florida, I have one kind of jeans that I wear on a regular basis - shorts. I tried to wear capris today because the weather is getting a little cooler and found that I had made a very poor decision indeed. :P Generally, though, I find that I look best in darker jeans - not black, but a richer blue.
4. Re: shoes, I only have a few pairs of sandals (because apparently my college fund is to be prioritized for dumb things like "food" and "school supplies" rather than for obscene amounts of footwear); I wear ones with gold tones for outfits that have golder tones in them (or alternatively I wear Rainbows for more comfort), and I have a couple of black ones that I wear with cooler colors. I only ever wear mid-calf or knee-high boots because they generally give my outfits some symmetry; I'm of average height and usually wear simply-patterned clothes, so my body is almost visually partitioned into my head and shoulders, my torso, my thighs, and my calves, so I find that taller boots are more visually pleasing than shorter ones.
5. I always wear jewelry; if my outfit is more down-to-earth (say, a plaid-button down with some skinny jeans tucked into riding boots), I wear some studs and a simple necklace, but if it looks a little nicer (say, a white blouse and a mint-green, lace-backed cardigan with a pair of shorts and some black sandals), then I go for more elaborate jewelry.

However, all of that said, one thing that I've made it a goal to always do is to read my Bible and pray before I get anywhere near the bathroom to put on my makeup and do my hair. As you can probably tell from the five-paragraph essay above, I like to look my best, which can lead to me being exceedingly vain. I want to be sure that I prioritize my spiritual well-being before anything to do with how I look; I want to be sure that I have my time with God and then maybe squeeze in my morning beauty routines, not the other way around.

Did that answer your question, or did I completely miss the point?

That's it. You will pay. A rant for you.

There is nothing to equal the smell of fresh rain. It’s so clean, and light and it clears all the tension from the air. There is nothing else that equals the feeling of lifting your face to the sky and letting those drops touch your face. There is a strange sort of wild beauty in rain that the burning hot rays of the sun simply does NOT have. Rain is when the sky vents forth it’s frustration in tears for the wrongs committed on earth. (not really :P) And after its torrent is finished, it leaves behind a sense of hope, a smell of life, and a newness for all those who NOTICE IT. Not to mention the splash of color against the sky rain leaves in parting.

-yawns- Since it's on my Q&A thread, I'll bite.
Miss Friendship wrote:There is nothing to equal the smell of fresh rain. It’s so clean, and light and it clears all the tension from the air.
Yeah, and makes the air smell like either wet asphalt or manure, depending on where I am. (Seriously, every time it rains on campus it smells like a stable. It's gross.)
Miss Friendship wrote:There is nothing else that equals the feeling of lifting your face to the sky and letting those drops touch your face.
Unless you get water in your eyes or your makeup runs or your hair gets wet and ruined.
Miss Friendship wrote:There is a strange sort of wild beauty in rain that the burning hot rays of the sun simply does NOT have.
I'd hardly call "falling down out of the sky, creating massive puddles I have to walk through, making cold days even worse than they already are, and soaking my hair and clothes" beautiful. The sun, meanwhile, shines on the ground and highlights beautiful, bold colors on everything it touches, creating wonderful contrast between highlights and shadows.
Miss Friendship wrote:Rain is when the sky vents forth it’s frustration in tears for the wrongs committed on earth. (not really :P)
And by that (jocular) logic, the sun is when the sky smiles upon all the beautiful things that God has created.
Miss Friendship wrote:And after its torrent is finished, it leaves behind a sense of hope, a smell of life, and a newness for all those who NOTICE IT.
I don't get that sense; I just get a sense of dreary misery. =P But there is little to compare to the rising of the sun on a brand new day, signifying hope and promise and igniting in the sky an explosion of magnificent color.
Miss Friendship wrote:Not to mention the splash of color against the sky rain leaves in parting.
Color that the sky wouldn't get without the sunlight to refract in the water droplets. :P
Miss Friendship wrote:Are you going to college in Florida right now? O.o
Um...yes? Why wouldn't I be?
Miss Friendship wrote:How often do you see your family?
I'm from out of state, so my parents live a few hundred miles away; either they'd have to fly down to see me or I'd have to fly up to see them, and it's too expensive to do that beyond Christmas holidays and summer. I talk to them a lot, though, over e-mail and the phone; I think I've e-mailed my mom about four times today, one of which was to screech joyously about kitten videos I watched on YouTube. \:D/

Ah, I see. I dunno, I thought from the way you were phrasing that you were just floored that at this very moment, someone would be in college. :P Yeah, I've mentioned it a few times in this thread and elsewhere, but it's perfectly understandable that you didn't see it; it probably got buried under the other posts.

Eh, I wouldn't say that he is. He might have a lead in some online poll or something, but in the end he'll either screw up so badly that he'll be forced to drop out to save face or someone will beat him to the nomination (there are plenty of qualified candidates running, which people are beginning to recognize more and more as they come into the spotlight).
Miss Friendship wrote:What would you say to the people who are in love with the thought of Donald Trump as President? *almost spelled Trump as Turnip* :anxious: *hides*
That they need to get more informed. :P Trump not only has few coherent policies beyond "Imma build a wall and deport legal citizens of the United States", but he's also run several companies into bankruptcy, which puts the lie to the already-weak argument that his wealth and business history count for economic experience.
Miss Friendship wrote:How do you drink your coffee? Or do you belong to the class of the Ox and WD's?
Coffee is expensive, man. :P I only drink frappucchinos from Starbucks because I don't want to throw money at an experiment; I know I like Double-Chocolate Chip with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. I'll probably try some when I get the chance, though; it certainly smells more appealing than tea, if nothing else. (I definitely know I won't be taking it black anytime soon; I tried some of my grandma's black coffee and it was awful.)
Miss Friendship wrote:Why don't you ever step into the debates that spring up in ED's thread?
Because it's his thread and I'd feel sort of awkward stepping into a debate in a Q&A thread without asking any questions myself.

Well, I would agree with this. I just hope he isn't hiding the other qualified candidates by being so arrogantly popular and screaming insults at women, and therefore getting so much attention.

OH! And I'm glad there's another person out there who understands the darker jean preference ;)

SO! Do you wear statement necklaces more often than longer single pendant necklaces?
When/How do you normally wear your cardigans?
Would you consider wearing combat boots with an A-line Skater dress? If so how would you style your outfit?
Do you change your makeup and the way you apply it when the colder seasons come along?
If the weather permits would you wear a big comfy sweater with leggings or skinny jeans?

Aw, thanks! :)
Paula wrote:SO! Do you wear statement necklaces more often than longer single pendant necklaces?
Depends on the outfit; if I'm wearing something long and flowing, then I usually wear long necklaces (not necessarily single-pendant, though; some of them have beads and jewels all around the chain). If it's a bit more conservative, I wear something shorter.
Paula wrote:When/How do you normally wear your cardigans?
I always use cardigans for layering purposes - it's functional and fashionable. \:D/
Paula wrote:Would you consider wearing combat boots with an A-line Skater dress? If so how would you style your outfit?
You better believe I would. :) I don't own a pair of combat boots, but I do have a pair of black leather boots that I wear with a floral skater skirt, and I'm considering buying a leather jacket to wear with a deep pink tank top tucked into the skirt. I kind of like the girly biker look. \:D/
Paula wrote:Do you change your makeup and the way you apply it when the colder seasons come along?
Well, normally I use only a purple pallet and black eyeliner rather than both that pallet and gold and brown tones, because most of my winter clothes complement that pallet, but I don't change the way I apply it.
Paula wrote:If the weather permits would you wear a big comfy sweater with leggings or skinny jeans?
Skinny jeans, definitely. For one thing, I like the look of skinny jeans tucked into boots, and for another, I really don't care much for the "leggings as pants" thing - although it's probably the attitudes of my peers that turned me off to it, as I don't own leggings myself. (I'm gonna rant for a bit, because news flash: If the school says it's out of dress code, it's out of dress code, and you don't look "edgy" or "cool" for breaking a rule that's ridiculously easy to follow).

Oh myyyyy! That sounds so adorable =o You should totally get one O_O
I've always wanted to pull that look off, but I don't have the right clothing articles to necessarily make it happen. Like the way your skirt/dress flares out and most times the length of it, will either totally click with your boots or totally clash, so I'm still looking for the right dress *nods* Do you remember the place that you got your skater skirt? If not...Do you have any suggestions of where I could get one for a decent price?

Yeah, I'm not one for wearing leggings as pants as it can make certain peoples feel uncomfortable and to me it can be very immodest, but if my blouse/sweater is long enough I'll wear them like that *nods* And that specific type of look really works with ballet flats or some ankle boots(I always imagine my future pair of ankle boots to be brown, with a small heel and with gold clasps :wacky: They'd work so well with an over-sized cream sweater............)

Aggh, sorry. I saw them and them promptly forgot about them because, it seems, I am a potato.
Miss Friendship wrote:Awww. Have you ever had any other animals?
Yeah, I had a betta fish for a couple of years, but it died because I kept forgetting to clean out its tank.
Miss Friendship wrote:Last book you read?
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, and before that The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley.
Miss Friendship wrote:Have you made any good friends at college yet?
Not yet, but then again I don't typically have more than one or two really good friends that I'm close to, and that kind of relationship requires a great deal of trust on my part. I am considering switching campus ministries, from a small one to a larger one that will probably have more freshmen.
Miss Friendship wrote:How many do you room with?
I room with three other girls; we live in an apartment-style dorm with four individual bedrooms, two bathrooms, a common area, and a kitchen.
Miss Friendship wrote:Are you an extrovert or introvert IRL?
Extrovert, definitely. I do like my alone-time, especially when I'm feeling moody or lonely, but I can't go too long without being around people.
Paula wrote:Do you remember the place that you got your skater skirt? If not...Do you have any suggestions of where I could get one for a decent price?
I got my skater skirts at Forever21, and I get the pleated ones because they're the ones that tend to flare out the most. I'm honestly not sure where else you could go to get something like that, but there are probably plenty of stores either online or in your area, especially if your parents aren't too fond of what Forever21 has to offer (my mom wasn't too thrilled at what appeared to be the length of the skirts I bought, even if they aren't that short in reality, at least on me).
Paula wrote:I always imagine my future pair of ankle boots to be brown, with a small heel and with gold clasps :wacky: They'd work so well with an over-sized cream sweater............)
Oooh, that sounds adorable! =D Add in an infinity scarf and some hoop earrings and it sounds absolutely perfect. You'll have to tell me what kind of boots you eventually get.

No, I first read them back in eighth grade, and then again in ninth and tenth grade in preparation for the Heroes of Olympus series (which I never finished).

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, clocking in at 870 pages of pure Potter goodness. :inlove:

As often as I can get the chance - when I'm walking somewhere, when I'm doing homework, when I'm relaxing, when I'm drawing...I've constantly got earbuds in and iTunes playing.

Poking fun at Justin Bieber is old news, man. Low-hanging fruit, you know? :P Personally, I never really had a problem with Justin Bieber until he started acting like a brat. Besides, I'd rather listen to Justin Bieber than, say, Nicki Minaj; at least some of his music is decent, and I'm rather fond of pop as a genre.

Nope. I've never even been to the West Coast. My family did take a giant road trip out West when I was seven (partially because my brother and dad were going to Philmont Scout Camp and partially because we were remodeling the house), but I think the furthest we got to the Pacific was a bit of Arizona. I'm the only one in the family who likes the beach, so it's not like we were raring to spend the money required to head out on a huge beach trip across the country.
Miss Friendship wrote:How far away do you live from the Ocean in Florida?
Cocoa Beach is nearest, I think; it's about an hour and five minutes away. My roommates and I have talked about going over Thanksgiving break, since it's not really feasible for us to go home.
Miss Friendship wrote:Does Florida stay generally warm year round?
Heck yeah it does! \:D/ I think the lowest the temperature drops down here is the forties or fifties for a little while in winter.

As someone who has practically lived and breathed HP from the age of twelve, I found this hilarious. :P

As to what Hermione is like...imagine me, with more book smarts, less sensitivity to the feelings of others, and a massive savior complex. I'm not entirely sure why I never really liked Hermione that much when I'm fully aware that we have many of the same traits (argumentativeness, stubbornness, a need to be right at all times, ruthlessness...the list goes on).
