They believed lots of different things, there wasn't then and isn't now a clear consensus on the book of Genesis. The important thing they agreed upon, God created everything ex nihilo or out of nothing.

Read a book, all though I do enjoy audio books.

I want to know why the one thing you would convince Miss Friendship on is the importance of the Apostilic(sp?) tradition. It is just confusing to me because I happen to agree with you on a lot of things and disagree with MF on a lot of things but the one thing you apparently find super important is also one thing that you and I disagree about and I just don't understand why that one thing is so important to you.

I know this probably won't make much difference...but according to the oldest creeds and such that we have, the age of the earth was hardly mentioned. I think, out of a 1000 or so page writing on Genesis and Creation, only 3 pages are devoted to the age of the earth. Three. This article, and table, represents what the early Christian writers thought on Creation. Just thought I'd add my two cents. :P

What do you think is one of the pointless debates in Christianity? (I'm probably speaking of one ^^^ xD)

What do you think is one debate Christianity is passing over/ignoring?

It is important to me because Apostolic Tradition represents the teachings & traditions given to the Apostles by Jesus. It was the primary source of doctrine for the first 300 years of the Church and the thing that unified the Church for over a millennium; before some decided to change it. Without Apostolic Tradition the Bible and the Church is incomplete. It holds so much wisdom that I am sad so many reject it.

Thanks for the article, that does help actually. It's a very good way to see quickly the diversity of views present in the Early Church.

Yes it is kind of pointless in the end, for me though the most pointless is debates about Revelation. We're told we won't know when it's happening so what do a lot of people do? Try to figure out when it's happening.

I think that more discussion needs to take place on prayer and asceticism

But isn't love more important than being right? Someone once said "If I am to be mistaken, I want to be mistaken in something resembling love"

Oh yes, I should have known this. I remember the time we were still debating at midnight my time and 3 in the morning your time. I almost decided to think you were a SS robot programmed to disagree with me. O.o :)

@Ragtag I don't see it as an either/or type situation. I can be loving others while also searching for the truth.

@MF If I had to change my name, do you mean my real name or my user name here?

that made me smile that smily

Uhm when people care more about truth they get all "I'm right your wrong I am loving you because I'm telling you you are wrong and that is loving oh and did I mention I'm soooo smart because I found alll the right answers" but when they are more focused on love its like screw being right or wrong we are probably all wrong about something lets just love each other.

I never said care more about truth, again it's not an either or situation. I can care about truth while still loving others. Yes the attitude you are describing is wrong but that doesn't have to be the attitude we take if we want truth. I sure hope I don't give off that type of attitude.

The relationships, my favorite parts of Doctor Who has been Amy Pond and 11 and also Clara and 12. Just the dynamics between those actors and characters is so awesome.

I do not

Do you like snakes or any kind of reptile?

Would you rather win an important earth shaking debate or lead a soul to Christ? Be honest.
