Speaking in Tounges
I don't believe in it. There is a verse that says that God is not a God of confusion. From what I've seen of it, it looks confused. (I know you are a Pentecostal, so no offense, but I just don't buy it.)

I've experienced it several times. And I can argue that it is real, take for instance when the Holy Spirit was sent down on the disciples and they spoke in tongues people couldn't understand, they also spoke in different languages that foreign understood. It's in the bible.

Well they did it on the Bible so whats in the Bible is true
"Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts." - Jeremiah 15:16
At Pentecost, tongues meant languages (for example, Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Aramaic, Syriac, etc.). In this kind of tongues, it is a non-understandable language that only God supposedly knows. I believe in the gift of tongues, just not like this.

I must say, that is also the reason why I don't believe in it as well- But if some of you feel like God wants you to speak in tongues or whatever, I have nothing against that. People think I'm weird because I cover my hair when I pray, but I feel like God wants me too...so I do it.sheltiez wrote:I don't believe in it. This is an article in a magazine published by my church. It is about speaking in tongues and explains what my position is on it very well. http://www.adventistworld.org/issue.php ... 07&page=20

It's what God wants us to do.sheltiez wrote:This is an article in a magazine published by my church. Ahem. An entire church that's able to speak in tongues in unusual. Hannah, I don't know WHAT is going on with your church, but either it's the most miraculous thing since the grotto, or there's something crazy and weird happening there. Not to offend you. But with all you say about your church in your posts and topics, it's an exception to Jesus' general rules to say the least. That kind of thing would make having faith in God not require faith: "Hey YOU! Christianity is totally DATED! It's all WRONG! GET WITH IT MAN!"
"Ummm... no it isn't. I and people at my church are able to miraculously speak random languages we don't know."
See what I mean?
