The only sources there that talks about the pagan origins of Christmas are some Puritan writings, so I will concede to you; the Puritans thought it was a pagan holiday.

No!!! It's really hard to explain. Our church is like VERY untraditional.Eleventh Doctor wrote:So anyone in the congregation could decide someone else isn't being led by the Spirit? That's an interesting tradition. If someone starts acting or speaking in a manner that is wrong one of the brothers addresses it and it's taken care of.
Miss Friendship you know who cut his arm in an attempt to bleed to death to save himself from the government torchering him or something. He was weird and forget about him when analyzing our church. Shall I mention all the weirdos who have attended your church over the years?
Besides just cuz my church is different than yours doesn't mean that we think there's anything wrong with what you do. And my personal preference is more order anyway.

Every church has traditions, some just have more than others.

Mandy, compared to Eleventh's church, we are the same...so don't worry about it.

Although I said I like a little more order better , we a really are pretty predictable and ordered right now and I love the way our church has been for the last several months. Anyhow

Good thing the actual St. Valentine's day is February 14th in the West and July 6th in the East. Seriously, these dates are much more complex than just matching with pagan dates, many of which were made up after the fact as anti-Catholic polemics. Those videos again totally miss the point that there is no one date for Christmas, that it is in fact a month long event and that some in the East put it at January 6th. If anything the move to December 25th is a more recent, i.e. post Roman, change.

Witches are very engraved in Catholics. They did a great deal of that. I don't really care for this debate.

Blitz, can you clarify before you leave this debate? I've never heard this claim before.

It's not the dates, it is the problem of the church conforming to the world.

So we shouldn't celebrate the birth of Jesus then? If it's not a matter of dates.

Job 1:4 And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
Job 3:3 After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his [birth]day.
2 And Job spake, and said,
3 Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.
None that come to mind.

I think basing your beliefs on two out of context verses isn't the best thing to do, I mean Job was in rather a bad situation there and God did rebuke him for complaining such. Also I don't see how Job's sons having a feast is bad in this context, I mean if we carry your interpretation to the extreme couldn't that verse be seen as a command against any feasts?
So you don't celebrate the Resurrection?
