Jessie
I liked it somewhat, but there were too many bad elements thrown in their comments.

I completely agree with Blitz. It funny, but introduces bad habits, behavior and worldly thinking.

I liked the idea behind the show, how the main character is a nanny, as I am. But I can't say I agree with all her nanny tactics. The kids tend to be disrespectful which is portrayed as funny, and the one adult, the butler, is shown as a clumsy, has-no-idea-what's-going-on kind of guy. The show does have its moments, like when the kids make up after a fight and work together to accomplish something (Military Barbie, anyone?) but those are rare.

Isn't that the same with all Disney shows?Stella C. wrote:The kids tend to be disrespectful which is portrayed as funny, and the one adult, the butler, is shown as a clumsy, has-no-idea-what's-going-on kind of guy.
I almost added "I feel like I'm describing all the Disney channel shows" actually

To be fair, Girl Meets World is a step up from their usual programming.
it's not about 'deserve'. it's about what you believe. and i believe in love
Really? It didn't seem to much of an improvement from the episodes I've seen, but I could be wrong.

Alright, I've only seen a few episodes so I wasn't sure.

I think the show is really funny. And Peyton List is in it, so I mean... 1 up for that.

I have only seen brief clips of the show, but the ones I did see I found stupid and unfunny, like all Disney shows. I don't know what you mean by bad messages, though... It seems to me that the problem with Disney Channel isn't bad morals (other than the fact that all the parents are portrayed as disinterested, dimwitted comic relief), but just generally moronic programming. It's especially puzzling when you consider that the quality of Disney movies has been very consistent for the past few years. Oh well... I guess if it's what the people want.

Because I'm a homeschooler and because I have Netflix, I have watched both season and am sad to say this statment is very, very true. But, Disney is about to take over the world, so I guess their doing it right.

They're sure as heck not taking over the world with Disney Channel. The demographic for these programs is basically 9 - 11 year old girls, unlike their movies, which can appeal to just about anybody.

Definitely. Also, the couple of times I watched that show, I was able to relate to the characters because here in NOLA we have the streetcars and the kids here (including me) all live by it and we travel the entire city by ourselves while there are only a few other cities (New York...) where kids can do that. I am also happy about Girl Meets World because they don't have things kids in other shows have like cell phones. One of the characters has parents that pay less attention to the kid and are less like the "I-Love-You...I-Love-You-Too" parents in other Disney shows. Sorry. I'll go back to the main topic. Anyway, I've watched Jessie once or twice, and didn't find it entertaining. The kids were bratty. They were rich. (ANOTHER DISNEY RICH FAMILY) They were stereotypical, especially Emma, the fashionista. Very ashamed to share my name with her.

Even the non-rich Disney families act like they are rich.

What? I've seen some of their episodes and, although it's a lot different from the other Disney Channel shows, I think it's different in a bad way. The Girl Meets World shows are often boring with little storyline and have very forced morals with stupid emotional talks at the end. For instance, there was one episode where Riley had to babysit her younger brother Auggie, but she spent the whole time watching TV with Maya. Apparently Auggie had really been looking forward to spending time with Riley and got all emotional. Riley then hugged her brother and said this big long speech that I guess was supposed to move the audience or something.Wakko wrote:Girl Meets World is a major improvement compared to other Disney shows.
The Disney Channel shows are okay, though rarely funny. I don't get why everyone here seems to hate them so much. They are sometimes ridiculous (like the characters dress strangely to get laughs) but this is hardly different from I Love Lucy episodes and such.
Yep, all Disney Channel shows are exactly the same other than there are different characters. Why do they even need a whole channel? Just make one show and be done.
Jessie is okay. I was reading a review on it a while ago, and the author's main reason for disliking the show was because of it's many stereotypes and fake accents. The more recent shows I have seen do not seem to have a lot of stereotypes, though Emma (who is a bad character for these reasons and needs to LEAVE THE SHOW) is a fashionista who is unwilling to break a fingernail and Ravi has a strange accent that does sound very fake. Bertram is incredibly stupid, and sometimes I'm just rolling my eyes because it seems that they're trying way too hard to be funny without succeeding. Occasionally, the dad is funny. Like one time he got a new coffeemaker and went out with it on a picnic. It was silly, yes, but his obsession over the coffeemaker was amusing. To much of this humor drives me crazy, though, so it definitely must be used very sparingly.

Imo they have more story then all the other shows, and the whole emotional talk is supposed to make it feel sort of like Boy Meets World.
The Disney Channel shows stink, like you said they all are essentially the same show.
Jessie is nothing but stereotypes, Emma's the dumb blonde, Luke's the dumb good looking jock, Ravi's the smart one, Zuri's the sassy one, Bertram's the overweight lazy comic relief, and Jessie's the clueless nanny.
Also, on an unrelated note, it's rumored that Jessie got cancelled.
