And she said, and I quote, "the actual fandoms for music are bandoms", meaning that music fandoms are fandoms but are called a specific name.Belle wrote:Which is...true....gablerbage8 wrote:Actually, she said that fandoms are more books/tv/movies and that the ones I listed were more bandoms than fandoms

gabler, we aren't saying they aren't fandoms. They. are.gablerbage8 wrote:bantatic domain...? No.
What we are saying is that they also have a special name, bandoms..none of the other fandom types have special names..so bandoms are special..
Think of it this way... a square is a rectangle, right? It just has a special name to differentiate it from regular rectangles...

Personally, I didn't like Blimey Cow's new video. I mean, yes, it was true, but really only about 13 year old girls when they talk about One Direction. I get that the video was called Why I Hate Fandoms, but they didn't show one positive thing about fandoms. There is a lot of good.
And....sorry, Gabler?

An owl and a squirrel are sitting in a tree, watching a farmer go by. The owl turns to the squirrel and says nothing, because owls can't talk. The owl then eats the squirrel because it is a bird of prey.

Audrey: I understand that. But he didn't mean that being a fan of something automatically makes you clueless. His videos are meant to be goofy and entertaining, you know. Heck, he himself is an Odyssian. As for 1D, he may have been joking, but in one video, he said he "loves" it. Oh yah.
Blitz: Well, my pet dragon says Eragon is great. *high fives Ash*
my fandoms:
About the poll above: Definitely Hunger Games. Divergent is brilliant in its own right, but Hunger Games is just raw with beauty and love and blood and elegance.
Taylor Swift. I didn't realize this for the longest time. I just like her songs pretty well. But then someone made slightly derogatory joke about her in a talk I was attending, and I instantly bristled. No, don't be take swings at Swift. Mean. So I guess I'm in her camp now.
1D. Yep, still like.
Owl City.
Winnie the Pooh.
Can't believe I used that. I'm ashamed of myself.
C.S. Lewis. (I want to read literally everything by him, and I staunchly defend the movies.)
Annnd there's some show I like. I talk about it a little. It's something to do with horses or something. And a character called disharmony or something and some sparkly purple character. I just can't think of it...

As the founder of the E.R.K., may I say: Emily RULES!
The last two books of Divergent stink. The last book of the Hunger Games stink. I hope the movie can make up.

@Blitz: If he didn't like it it's probably bc he saw the movies which I hear are horrible. Apparently they don't stick to the book AT ALL. Which is sad.
And I forgot some other fandoms I'm in:
The Twilight Zone
The Beverly Hillbillies
How to Train Your Dragon
Classic Who
Frank Sinatra

Um... AIO, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, U2, The Muppets, I Love Lucy, Alfred Hitchcock, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Simpsons (I know what you're going to say, but my parents are okay with it and it's not quite as bad as some people will tell you it is), Kurt Vonnegut, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer/Huckleberry Finn, and I do like Oscar Wilde's stuff, even though, I've only read a couple works by him.

Um... Vertigo, The Birds, Rear Window, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Rebecca, North By Northwest, Dial M For Murder, and The Trouble With Harry. My favorites were Vertigo (my favorite movie ever), Rebecca (probably in the Top Five), and North By Northwest (a great James Bond-ish movie before James Bond even happened). Still not allowed to see Psycho.
Oh well, I guess it probably is a bit intense.
