The E.R.K. (Emily Rules Klub)
I have to say I've enjoyed Emily more in recent episodes. She doesn't seem as overbearing now. And, (I was thrilled) in Big Trouble under the Big Top, we are given a little more explanation as to her "detective skills" when Emily uses her powers of observation. To me, this makes her more believable and gives some credibility to her detective work. It wasn't an outstanding episode, but it was certainly worth listening to, and I wouldn't cringe if I had to listen to it again, as I would with some of the earlier Jones and Parker episodes.

I. DO. NOT. WORSHIP. HER.Mr. Whit's End wrote: Your anthem, ERKer.Read this and tell me you don't worship her.
I didn't write that anthem, and a few ERKers (me included) have actually requested that it be changed. I've never posted the anthem, I didn't come up with it. You KRers are getting kinda desperate to make your point.

To echo Seasie, I as well do not worship Emily. Not all in the ERK are worshipers of Emily. You cannot accuse the ERK on a post that only one ERK member has posted.

^^ Props to Belle ^^

Ok, if it is okay with you, PF, I would like to get us back on topic. I know that PF usually does these conversation starters, but I liked the idea so much that I wanted to start one. You can copyright it or whatever SSers do to reserve an idea, I just think we're being petty with, "Emily rules!" and "No, she doesn't. You're so close-minded!" and "No, you're close-minded!". Anyway,

What do you think about the Jones family and how do you think Emily relates to her family? In episodes with Barrett, what do you think about their relationship? What about Mr. and Mrs. Jones? Is she a good role model in obeying and honoring her parents? As PF would say, "Talk it up!".

Really?T.S. (myself) wrote:...Yes, we have, in Emily the Genius. We don't see Emily and Barrett interact much in most episodes; I would appreciate seeing more of this.

I agree that there should be more episodes where Barrett and Emily have more interaction.

^^ Props to Belle ^^
I agree with TS and Aftershocker. I really enjoyed the relationship between Emily and Barrett in Repent After Me and would really enjoy seeing more of this.
As for Mrs. Jones, I'll have to listen Emily the Genius again, for I do not remember hearing her

Why thank you, Pound Foolish, for that announcement, let's indeed talk it up as you say... Wait a sec.
If you're Pound Foolish, who I am I? I have lost myself. I don't know who I am. Aaah! Oh, I know. If Gratia is me, I must be Gratia. Phewf.
Anyhow, Barrett and Emily always bounce off each other well. It's amusing how she is always calmly intelligent while he is in an awkward situation. ("It wasn't from playing verminoids! Which I wasn't playing under the tree."
In her way, yes, she certainly honors her parents. One reason I am fond of When You're Right You're Right is the emphasized contrast between Emily's family and Matthew's. Matthew's parents can be rather authoritarian at times. ("I'm really getting a cramp in my pouring arm." "Camilla." "Alright, three dozen more sodas coming right up.") And they certainly aren't open to straight-talk from their kids. Emily critical of her parents, but in kindly respectful way. They are polite and understanding of one another, and as long as the Jones kids aren't distinctly out of line (like with playing video games instead of watching Emily) they are treated less like subordinates and more like friends. That seems a beautiful way for a family to function.
Besides, everyone needs to listen to Emily. She's smarter than anyone.

I agree, although I think the Parker family's method would work too. Anyway, Emily is pretty good with Barrett, although sometimes she can be pretty bossy. Of course it's always with the best intentions.

That...that...that was beautiful, PF.
Seriously, though, welcome I <3 Wooton! Be prepared to sing Emily's praises from the rooftops of the KRE castle, while trying to dodge their flaming arrows. But the brownies make it all worthwhile. And the fact that you are celebrating one of Odyssey's finest.
