Yeah, that was my attempt to mimic PF.

I'd have to agree. Red seems too much like an attempt to replace Bernard. Now that he's already been in several episodes, it might be too late to simply get rid of him. Hopefully he will be refined a little as his role evolves.
I've enjoyed Mrs. Kramer immensely, but only as a minor, flat character. I really don't want to see her become overused or even become a more major character. Just an occasional role is fine.
Jacques Henri is a nice person to have around. He's not overdone, and at least sounds fairly realistic to me. He interacts well with Penny, and it's good to have a consistent store owner again.
Grandmother Lucia has been a good character. CT was right, though, she should remain an occasionally visitor to Odyssey.

O_O. . . when I read that originally, it was late... And i just glanced over the post, not the author. I seriously thought it was PF. But I laughed and laughed. That was good. ^_^

I didn't really like Red Hollard at first. When I heard him, he just felt like a replacement of Bernard, and he doesn't do nearly as good a job. But, he was kind of funny in Sergeant York, and I don't think he's a bad character, he just isn't my favorite.
The other characters, I really don't have much of an opinion about. They're average characters, and I wouldn't really want them to be gone forever, but I don't really love them.
Edit: Okay, I guess I do have an opinion about Mrs. Kramer. I like her. I like her dry humor. Dry humor is the best kind of humor in my opinion. My brother, MGB, has a great sense of humor, and it is extremely dry. You never know what he's going to say, and sometimes it takes you a couple seconds to realize what he said, but it's usually hilarious. Mrs. Kramer's humor is usually more sarcastic, but I like her as a minor character. I couldn't imagine her as a more major character though. She's fine the way she is, appearing in a few episodes, but she should definitely stay.

Okay, I do not think Jacques Henri has a very good accent at all. And his French humor is fairly flat and corny. I sorta cringe when I hear him. French accents are not extremely heavy and overdone like Jacques is, they are lighter.
Plus, Jacques is played by American voice actor Daniel Hagen.
Yeah, Jacques should not be brought in anymore than is absolutely necessary.
I dunno, he's not such a huge problem, I guess. It's just I sorta cringe when I hear him.
My mom grew up in Montreal, I don't know if that's a factor in this.
She's not French-Canadian, just born and partly raised there, and she's rusty on her French, though she does know a good chunk.

Seriously this time, here's the deal.
Mrs. Kramer... Red Hollard... Jacques Henri... They're all humor characters. Some are going to find them, "***oying", some are going to laugh. That's just the way it is.
Speaking for myself, I and my siblings laugh aloud at almost everything Mrs. Kramer has to say, (an honor usually reserved for characters like Wooton, PJ, Harlow Doyle, and other such comedic Odyssey Hall of Fame awardees.) Mrs. Kramer livens up her shows with her grouchiness, yet has a soft side. It was disappointing to miss her in 56. But then, a lot of characters were brushed to the side in that album, as the emphasis was on Odyssey's kids. Which is a good thing, beyond a doubt. As I so often remind us, every time characters are in the sun, others have to be put in a drawer. Never fear though, AIO realizes they've got something good in Mrs. Kramer. Ten to one she'll be back for at least another episode or two.
Also, let's get this straight: Red Hollard. Isn't. A.Replacement. For. Bernard. Or. Tom.
One just kinda smiles and rolled one's eyes when you see Wretched bought this oddly popular lie. But TS... It's hard to believe you are on that band-wagon.
There's utterly no support for the theory. How it ever got off the ground is a mystery. Bernard, when told he's' a good storyteller (quote just from memory and probably erroneous, needless to say) : "Well don't go spreading it around. I'll have a buncha kids wanting stories and I'll never get any work done."
Red Hollard: "WHICH ALSO REMINDS ME OF MY COUSIN BILLY BOB! SEE, HE WAS..."
Try playing an episode with Tom gently comforting Whit, then put in a CD and listen to some of Bernard's grumpy muttering... then put in a CD with Red Hollard. And see if you still think he's a copy.
There's almost no similarity. Red Hollard has a loud, braying, rough and playful country-sounding voice as opposed to Tom's charming one.Red is goofy and likes a joke, ("This brick!") Bernard and Tom aren't. Bernard isn't very social, Red won't shut up.
What do they have in common? Their interests, their attitude, their voices, all clash with almost nothing in common.
And hey, Red's funny. Let him stay. "Please, call me David." "David, look out!" My sister replays that part of that episode over and over.
Now for Jacques. First off, enough with accent, people! Is his existence hinged onto his accent? Is Jacques a blight to AIO if his accent is bad or a shining light if it's good? Some people think it rocks, some find it unrealistic. Who cares?!
It's just an accent. What about his character? That's what counts. Because he is a character.
As a character, Jacques is a very funny, charming person who bounces off the other characters nicely and has some heart.
And just for the record, his accent isn't there to be realistic. It's there to be funny. "Am I not speaking Hrangleesh!?"
And Mr. Thinker, it's puzzling how you could say his jokes are, "stale." That implies they're used. They are in fact, quite original and witty. "It is not just an egg. It is Humpity Dumpity." "We French do not hide. Especially in such little places." "I am ripping them into pieces. spitting on them. Pooey, pooey. Now I am jumping on the wet remains!"
Bottom line: these characters are keepers.

Red Hollard- I think he's pretty good!
Lucia Ortaga (Grandma "Parker")- She reminds me of a friend! I like her!
Jacques Henri- He's not the most amazing... but he's funny.
Mrs. Kramer- Best since Bernard!

Of course. I took a trip to Colorado Springs and held up Katie Leigh at a gunpoint. "Give me the new album!"
That would be a "no." I meant 56. Fixed, thanks.

Jacques Henri should stay. He seems like a good character and I love his French accent. However, I can never picture him being a main character.
Red Hollard shouldn't stay. He seems to much like Leon Wankle, who I never liked anyway.
Lucia Ortaga is a good character and deserves to stay. I think she has a lot of potential to become a more major character. She just needs to be put in better episodes.
Mrs. Kramer is funny and I like her voice, but I can't see her as a popular character.
