I recently heard a quote from the NLT while I was at a church retreat. It was actually hard for me to follow because of the excessive paraphrasing/translating.

I love the NIV. Very easy to read. :D

I used the NIrV for awhile, but there were some thing I didn't like as much, but I did find it easy to read.

I use KJV. Good old book <3
The greatest single cause for atheists in the world today, is Christians. Who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, and walk out the door, and deny him with their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.

I use the NIV and ESV mostly, but I have no problem with most of the other translations. However, really paraphrased versions like the Message and NLT seem to lack a lot of the beauty of the language of the Bible in an attempt to keep it simple. They probably are good for new Christians but I would say, personally, go with an older version. I would love to be able to always read the bible in KJV or something like that, but I don't have a KJV Bible.

I very much agree with this. I know a few people who really enjoy how the Message or NLT sound, but for me they take away some of the majesty and beauty of the Bible.

My bible is a KJV. I love it. Partly because it has my name on it and partly because it's a small pocket bible that can fit easily into my purse. :)

I use a NIV but my church has since switched to ESV so I use that one sometimes too. And NKJ is always good to have around.

I basically use what Waldo just said, if you reverse the NIV and ESV.
