Whit is often thought of as somewhat inconsistent, which he is. Which must be considered invertible, since he appears in so many episodes. But he is amazing. A gentleman. A fighter for Christ. A loving mentor. And our friend. Forever. Thank you, God, for John Avery Whittaker.

John Avery Whittaker is one of Odyssey's truly amazing characters. He's a teacher, an inventor, a storyteller, an archeologist, and adventurer, a sleuth, a advice-giver, a businessman, a writer, and an all-around amazing devoutly Christian man. AIO would never be the same without him, and he's one of the best characters. Definitely in my Top 5 list. I quote the great commenter Pound Foolish:

He rocks! What else can I say. He's a hundred year old man. Gotta love him.
Nothing.
Yeah! I love Whit too! I mean, who couldn't love him! The show would definitely not be the same without him. I think one of my favorite's with him is... Probably one of the top's is The Green Ring album. You see a lot of wisdom in that episode, yet you also get to see a lot of his tender side (hints his family).

First reply! I liked the first and second whit. The last whit took me too long to get used to his voice.
Nothing.
Yes, I agree. I still like him, but not as much as the first two. ChristianA. Also had a good point about Andre not being a follower of Christ.

Christian A. is a member here. He runs a blog, and never would make a statement like that without doing research. So yes, I believe, but only God knows, that Andre Stojaka is not a Christian. That takes out some of the sincerity of his acting for me.

Fodo, Fodo, Fodo...dear. You are such a nut.
Hmm...I've never really preferred any of the actors who played Whit over the other...but I have always felt a closeness to Paul Herlinger, and I loved Hal Smith's jolliness. I think each of them do a wonderful job, though.

I just realized that I altered the entire meaning of my post by not adding 'not'. So, I believe that Andre is not a Christian.
