I think MF said you fasted before Sunday....is the Eucharist the first meal you have then? Or am I completely off base?
Should the Church be the government? Today. If there was no change. (As in, should the Church be the government, even if the country isn't primarily Christian, or part of the Church?)
What do you think is the biggest threat to the EO Church today?

Do you have any memories that stand out as exceptionally beautiful?
Will you become Catholic?
Can God feel emotions? If so, how can He when He cannot go emotion to emotion being he exists outside of time?
May I wish you a not-at-all-late birthday?

No, I don't think the Church should be the civil government.
The biggest threat is our inability to make the faith real to children raised in the EO Church.
No, will you become Eastern Orthodox?
I'm not sure, I think if He does then God doesn't experience them the same way we do because God is not ruled by passions.
You may, thank you

Traveling through Europe, those were some beautiful memories. Specifically Prague, one of my favorite cities.Pound Foolish wrote:Do you have any memories that stand out as exceptionally beautiful?

So I was thinking "Hey, i wanna do one of these Q&A threads! It looks like fun and I love answering questions!" But then I was like "Well no one knows me." But then I was like "Well that's perfect because then they could get to know me!" But then I felt like it would still be weird.
So. Since you DO know me. SHOULD I START ONE!? How you respond will deeply alter the course of my life so answer wisely.

Who do you want to talk to first after God?
If you had to pick a country in Africa to live in which would you? Asia? South America?

Oh wow, I have no idea. I think I'll wing it
No one, I'll be in the presence of God.
I don't know enough about Africa to pick a country, maybe Ethiopia. Asia I'd probably pick Japan because I was going to move there when I was younger but then we moved to Germany instead. And South America, Argentina because a friend of mine studied there for a year and really liked it.

What do you think of US' prison system? If you do not like it, what would be your ideal system?

I think the US prison system is overcrowded because of the drug war and the racial profiling in the drug war specifically. I would favor legalizing most drugs and move to rehabilitation instead of incarceration.
I can't imagine what it'll be like in Heaven so I have no idea.Miss Friendship wrote:So if you are in the presence of God you can't talk with anyone else? o_0Eleventh Doctor wrote:No one, I'll be in the presence of God.

By national I mean we have several conventions in different parts of America.
I don't care for Mafia.

What led to you becoming Greek Orthodox? If I recall correctly, you were raised Protestant weren't you?

I was raised Protestant, we moved around a lot growing up so I went to a lot of different Protestant churches. Plymouth Brethren, Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, non-denominational etc. But when I got to college I tried going to a local mega church, this was in addition to the five a week daily chapels on campus, I realized that the faith had never been real to me; it was simply something I did because it was what my parents did. I treated it as philosophy and as a philosophy it really falls apart quickly. So I became an atheist in college and was that way for a couple years, I kept going to church with my parents but they later told me they weren't fooled.
So fast forward a couple years and I pick up and read Reason for God by Timothy Keller for some reason. It made a convincing case to me that God was real and that I needed to be going to a church. So I started asking my friends at the time where they were going. A friend of mine from college's girlfriend said that they were going to an Orthodox church and I asked what she meant by Orthodox because I had never heard of it before. She gave me a book called Facing East by Frederica Mathewes-Green, the story of an Episcopalian priest and his wife as their congregation converts to Orthodoxy and lives out a full year as Orthodox.
I was very intrigued by the history of the Orthodox Church and their focus on the Eucharist so I decided to visit with my friend. The parish I was going to was part of the Romanian episcopate but also part of the Orthodox Church of America so the services were in English; not all Orthodox churches are Greek, just most. I stepped into the church just as the service was starting, Orthodox churches are elaborately decorated with icons of various Saints, these icons are gold leafed and painted with dark somber colors. There are no instruments in Orthodox services, all the music is chanted. When I walked into my parish for the first time I saw all the Saints and I knew that they were actually there, icons are meant to represent the cloud of witnesses that St. Paul talks about, and the choir sounded like a choir of angels. Finally, I felt the presence of God there.
So three weeks later I became what is know as a catechumen and six months later I was christmated and accepted into the Eastern Orthodox Church.
