I bought their album like two and a half years ago before anyone had even heard of them... just saying.
Still, I have by no stretch of the imagination remained a "devoted fan"... in fact, I haven't heard a single one of their new, post-Night Visions songs.

I think the only song I like by them is "Warriors".

An owl and a squirrel are sitting in a tree, watching a farmer go by. The owl turns to the squirrel and says nothing, because owls can't talk. The owl then eats the squirrel because it is a bird of prey.
Warriors is pretty good. It was a single for a game. I can't wait for Smoke+Mirrors.

For those of who like Imagine Dragons:
If you can, try not to skip around. The whole build up really makes the drop sound 10x better.

I like them, I just read this article that a friend of mine wrote about them. http://entertainmentvoice.com/2015/02/1 ... e-mirrors/

That was a great music track.
They have a tough schedule.

I listened to their new album for the first time today, and I was somewhat impressed. The epic guitar solo during "Hopeless Opus" completely caught me off guard, and it was one of the few moments on the album I can remember with clarity (though that's totally biased, since I just generally love guitar solos, and it's so uncommon to see them in modern music that I get rather excited when they pop up).
I was listening to the album while doing something else, so I didn't have too much of a chance to analyze the lyrics, but they struck me as being very introspective and apologetic. This is hardly unique, but the singer did in a unique-ish sort of way. I also read the Plugged In review and found out that there was virtually nothing wrong with the album in terms of content, so that's always a plus too.
As for the music, it tended to jump around a lot, and I noted classic rock, world music, and ambient influences, as well as the electronic-tinged alt-rock Imagine Dragons have been associated with thus far. Like a lot of modern music, there was an ever-present emphasis on huge choruses, and thus, some of the verses could almost be seen as "filler".
So overall, based solely on one listen, I can say that they haven't evolved much musically (except for the awesome aforementioned guitar solo) or lyrically, and that's not necessarily a good thing, but what they can do they do well, so I can commend for that. But of course, I'll have to listen to the album at least two more times and allow the songs to sink in before I can write a "full review".

Oh, I totally agree with your review. Some of their songs are really insightful like I Bet My Life deals with family relations as many of their songs do. Some of their songs like the unknown deal with the singers struggle with what he believes. They have great flexibility in what they sing.
I am on my third time listening to the album, but I also need to take my time before I can review most of them.

I love Radioactive! *glares at Wakko*
I listened to some of their songs and thought they were good, just not really my style.
