Has President-Elect Trump ever actually worked in government? Was he ever a governor, senator, mayor, lawyer, or even taken politics in college?

(I forget if we are arguing why Carson would be chosen by Trump, or if Carson would be a good choice, so if it's the latter, ignore me =p)

It's the latter. I'm not surprised Trump might choose Carson; perhaps it's more of a pattern among Presidents than I realize, but it seems to me that Trump's Cabinet will be largely filled by jackboot-lickers regardless of whether or not they're qualified for the actual positions. That doesn't change the fact that Carson isn't qualified.

Most people aren't actually qualified to do the job they do. Roosevelt was appointed to a high position in the navy with no prior experience in the navy. If you look back in history, most people transfer from one branch to another branch vastly different.

Anyway, Carson said he would refuse any cabinet position.

Actually Roosevelt while at Harvard wrote a book on the US Navy during the War of 1812, it remains the definitive work about the US Navy of that time period to this day. He was very qualified for the position of Assistant Secretary of the Navy. So no Blitz Roosevelt is not an example of "most" people transferring from one branch to another vastly different branch and I challenge you to provide more examples or concede that you were wrong in this regard.

Carson hasn't said anything, Armstrong Williams spokesperson for Carson said this. "Dr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he's never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency." Which makes perfect sense, except that Carson was running for the presidency.

I got a 32 on my ACT. =) Not as good as my "parents" but close enough. ;) I was a little low in science and they didn't really like my essay, which is what put my score down. Oh well, that should be plenty high enough for the colleges I want to attend so I'm happy. :wacky:

What's the difference between SAT and ACT? I've always wanted to know.

They are basically just different tests so one doesn't have the monopoly. =p But I have taken both so I know there are a few differences. They are similar in that they are college-prep tests to attempt to see how prepared, education-wise, you are for college. Both tests are pretty generally accepted by colleges as a way of seeing how "smart" you are. You can get scholarships and a lot attention from colleges if you have a good score. (I've gotten tons of letters from colleges begging me to go there since my SAT score is fairly good) The places of both tests are often the same, in fact I took both tests at the same school (with #funfact the same teacher =0). A big difference in the tests are the subjects. SAT has Reading, Language, Math without calculator, Math with Calculator, and an optional essay. ACT has Reading, Language, Science, Math, and an optional essay. The Reading and Language tests felt pretty much the same in both tests for me. The ACT math was harder than both of the SAT math tests, or that is my experience. And SAT doesn't have science at all, except ACT science was a ton of reading graphs and answering questions from that, not actual science information you must memorize before taking the test. The SAT essay was reading 1.5 page article on an issue, and writing a summary and dissection of the paper and how the argument was given. The ACT essay was reading short description of an issue and three viewpoints on the topic, and writing a summary of the three viewpoints and giving my own opinion. I preferred the ACT essay. Both tests take about the same length to complete, although I believe the ACT is a more rushed test then the SAT. (ACT has 60 math problems in 60 minutes, SAT has 58 problems in 80 minutes) The last important difference would be the scores. ACT is scored out of 36, and the SAT out of 1600. So, you can see, the SAT score is a lot more detailed so you can see a more exact percentage of your score and compare it to others. The ACT is a smaller score range which means you can compare a bit more relatively and um stuff. I dunno, you can figure out how having a different way of scoring is... different and beneficial or not. xP

That's about it. #long The short story is they are basically the same except the ACT has a science test included. I preferred the SAT, but that's just me.

Congratulations, Ox! \:D/ That's fantastic!

I didn't like the ACT science section very much. There was this stupid section on meerkats that made no sense whatsoever, and I had to guess on some of the questions like 5 seconds before the time ran out. :noway:

Wow, Ox, that's awesome! I got a 30 and the essay actually helped me a lot, thankfully. I like the ACT SO MUCH MORE (all in caps because that's how much I like it) than the dumb SAT. Probably because I did better on it, haha. But in general I find it superior.

Congratulations, Ox! That's awesome!

I liked the ACT better because I didn't have to pay for it. \:D/ My high school paid for the entire junior class to take it my junior year. We basically got the entire day off and it was awesome.

Also, if by some chance anyone is stressing out about these two tests, don't. Seriously, just do your best. It's my second year of college and I barely even remember that the ACT and SAT exist, nor can I recall what my GPA was from any point. Once you've gotten accepted into colleges and you've got good scholarships, you can pretty much forget the absurd culture surrounding that nonsense. The best thing about college is that nobody cares anymore about what happened in high school.

Same, that's basically what I did all the way through the entire science test. >___> The science, the really hard math problems, and the extreme time crunching is what made the ACT less enjoyable then the SAT for me. *nods* (just a side note, all you ancient people took the old SAT, while a really different SAT just recently came out :wacky: )

And thanks guys. xD Now you made me feel like I was bragging. :anxious:

Wait, the SAT essay is optional now??? *where's the head banging on brick wall emoji when you need it* I'm can't right now.

Anyway, the ACT is so so so so SO much better than the SAT. I came out of the SAT feeling like the world had ended and I couldn't figure out which way was up. It was awful. The ACT was defenitly much better, from what I can remember!
