#1032: As Iron Sharpens Iron

Post

This episode was most interesting. I enjoyed hearing Kandy from "Worth Her Wage" again. I think the actress who plays her, Alisha Liston, did very good in this episode! We also got to hear Officer Burke again! \:D/

I think this was a good episode on friendship, which is generally a subject of interest for me. I have a thought regarding Bridget. But it requires re-listening to the last episode she was in, "Being Real". Here's my theory: She is trying to find people to connect with. We see her engaging with three different parties in this episode:
  • Texting Cynthia Prichard, someone the Perkins family knew from Virginia who makes ceramic frogs. I had thought Bridget was really texting Kandy and was lying when asked. But upon thinking about it, I think she actually was reaching out to Cynthia, although she confirms that they never really clicked.
  • Kandy Morris, former coworker at Burger World who got fired.
  • She displays curiosity about the virtual friend creator app, ETHER, when Wyatt tells her about it at the end.
Now, listen to what she says to Jules in "Being Real":
I have no one in my life who I can relate to anymore. Not even my family.
She does go on to say after that statement, "I can handle life alone." However, I am of the opinion that after her conversation with Jules in "Being Real" in which she essentially declines the idea of the two of them being friends again, Bridget questions whether she can really do life alone. Why would she spend this whole episode reaching out to people? What's ironic is that she has a pool of people ready to welcome her: the church youth group, which is mentioned to her multiple times in the episode. But she always makes the excuse of being busy at work. Either because Jules is in there or because she is trying to avoid engaging with church people. Or both possibly.

I will probably write a more in depth review at some point. But overall, I think this was a fine episode! I am curious as to what Bridget will be doing next. \:D/
