You know absolutely nothing about Half Life??? *eyes bulge in surprise*
Okay, just joking.

Half Life was developed by...Valve, I think. Then Valve turned into Steam, which produced (I think) Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode One, and Half Life 2: Episode Two.
And Portal. But that's another subject.
Anyway, Half Life is a single-player first-person about Gordon Freeman, a scientist who works at the Black Mesa Facility in New Mexico (or maybe Nevada...it's all the same in a game). On his first day, Gordon is assigned to the Lambda wing of the facility, where he's supposed to run an experiment on a supposedly alien specimen. Unfortunately, the experiment goes awry (opening a portal to an alien planet), so Gordon ends up fighting his way through a crumbling, alien-and-military-infested science lab. It's pretty cool, you get all sorts of neat weapons like a crowbar, glock, submachine gun (with grenade launcher), shotgun, crossbow (YES!), several different types of alien weapons, and so on and so forth. Of course, this game came out in the 90s, so the graphics are a little low-quality (nothing as bad as say, Doom, Quake, or Unreal). But the real pull of the game is it's storyline. There's no cut scenes or anything, but the whole way it plays out is so...intriguing.
And it only gets more so in the next game, when Gordon is released/sent/allowed out of a time-freeze thingy where he was stuck by the mysterious G-Man (complete with blue suit and briefcase). Gordon meets up with some old friends (and an old enemy), learns the Combine have invaded and occupied Earth, and goes through some rear-kicking exercises. The graphics for Half Life Two were much better. The water, for instance, is so realistic-looking, and bodies don't just disappear; they lay there with bloody holes shot through them and can be moved if you push them or shoot them. The Episodes were pretty similar to HL 2, only a lot shorter. And there was more story development in my opinion.
I've played all four games and they are immense fun. My only complaint is that the main female character, Alyx Vance, likes to swear a WHOLE lot. Not cuss words, just stuff like d*mn, what the h*ll, oh my g*d. Other than that, they're fantastic.
And on a side note, I'll add that Half Life Two was voted the best game of the decade.
Wow, next month? So you must work through the summer right? Or you're really smart and skipped grades.
