It's fine with me. I've often thought that it was more cost-effective to elope anyway.

Only if they're talking about how fabulous I am. :noway: Why, have you been gossiping about me?
Miss Friendship wrote:Do you have the OAC? How do you listen to AIO normally?
I did, for a month in late December and early January, just to see if I liked it. It was nice to have, but by the time my subscription was up I'd moved on to other things and wasn't listening to AIO as much as I was over the winter holidays.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:BTW, my point was that Cody was reading the word "mischievous" in the episode, but it doesn't matter.
Okay, but here's the thing—it's a pet peeve. Everyone has them. I don't care how old the character or the actor would have been at the time; I have heard that word mutilated over and over again and I cannot stand it. That doesn't mean that I would tell a child who pronounced it that they were the spawn of Satan; I would correct them and move on. You...kind of made a mountain out of a molehill, as they say. =/
Isaiah the Ox wrote:I nearly fainted when I saw you were talking about evolution by the way. I thought that annoyed you to pieces.
It does, which is why I retreated back to my usual "eh" position when Eleventh corrected me. ;) But people traipsing in and acting like evolution is the root of all kinds of evil and that there's some kind of insurmountable wall between science and Christianity annoys me even more. It was a "lesser of two annoyances" situation. :(
Isaiah the Ox wrote:How does it feel to have a husband? Who else have you been shipped with online?
Well, we live in separate places, so we retain our independence nicely. It's a long-distance relationship, but I think we can make it work if we persevere. I haven't really been shipped with anyone else online, as far as I know.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:How does it feel to have a daughter?

How does it feel to have a son... being me?
Pretty awesome, actually. You two are one of my greatest achievements. -wipes tear- I...I just feel so proud to have such beautiful children...

(Unless either one of you ever fails, of course, in which case you are DISOWNED. :x )
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Why is the Helios a lie?
Because we were told there would be Helios. There was no Helios. The Helios is a lie.
snubs wrote:If you were a super hero (preexisting or made up), what super hero would you be?
Ooh, that's tough. I'd either want to have super strength, or the power to control fire akin to the firebenders from A:tLA. The first would more than likely come with enhanced endurance and stamina and would give me a huge advantage in a fight, but the second would also give me that advantage on a more formidable scale, would require significant discipline and training in hand-to-hand combat to help channel the power, and, should I master techniques such as jet propulsion and lightningbending, would look incredibly cool.

I believe you have been brought up several times on the chat recently, but nothing noteworthy. :P But Ox and I had been discussing the SS and if we could imagine any of the users in a (real offline) relationship and we could imagine you with a nerdy guy. Thus, the former questions were inspired. ^

I've kind of abandoned the ToO at this point. I might post every now and then if there's an AIO topic that interests me, but I'm no longer an active part of the community and I can't foresee myself being so for quite some time. Plus, I'm better at analyzing the Bible than I am at fact-recall from it.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Is the "7 post" rule strictly enforced? 0_o
Well, I obsessively peruse the board every time I see new posts for a reason. :P We wouldn't have made the rule if we weren't planning on enforcing it. The Interview Booth gets post-heavy if you don't check multiple times a day as it is with the rule, and it's a lot for us to keep up with, especially since most of us are full-time students/workers and we have busy lives outside of the SS. I can only speak for me (especially since I think I'm the one that suggested the post limit in the first place :anxious: ), but I'd love it if everyone could post in however many threads they wanted to—but the fact is that this is incredibly stressful for the mods, especially when it's one person who's posted in every active thread.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:What is your opinion of mafia games?
I think they seem really fun, and the ideas that Belle and Limerick come up with are always so unique. I'm not sure if I'd ever be involved in one, but they seem like they're pretty cool in and of themselves.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:How should Christians confess?
However they feel led to. Personally, I believe in confessing one's sins directly to God. That's part of what the curtain being ripped in two from top to bottom was all about—His presence is open to anyone in varying states of spiritual cleanliness, not just one particular individual. But if your conscience leads you to go confess to a priest or a pastor or however it's done, then you should go do that.

Isn't counting posts even extra work for mods? Wouldn't just saying "don't over post in the Interview Booth... because we are busy people" work better than an actual limit? I'd rather have a simple warning and a reason rather than a legalistic standard. I mean, we aren't children after all.

*questions the SS rules*

*awaits to be banned*

When does "being a fan" become "being an obsession"? Is it right too know more about a fandom than, say, theology/God/the Bible?

If you could only use one writing utensil for the rest of your life, what would it be?

What do you think of styluses (for touch devices)?

Possibly? I'd have to go back into the mod thread and check.

Edit: Yeah, it was me. :P #holla
Miss Friendship wrote:Are all the mods required to read everything? (Cause I know Eleventh doesn't) :noway:
I don't think we have to, but it helps me to stay on top of things. Besides, I was already reading every post because I'm a bit obsessive-compulsive and like for all the threads to be marked "read" consistently on my screen.
Miss Friendship wrote:You were the second person to send me a PM. What was your first impression of me? :wacky:
As I recall, I was questioning your language with respect to the Catholic church in some thread or another, so...I guess my first impression was "oh, great, another one of those conservatives". ;)
Miss Friendship wrote:Why would your life be ruined by watching Gravity Falls? O.o
Because there are so many unanswered questions and mysteries and the characters are so real and there's some tense action going down right now and I need for my babies to be okay and the finale is in five days I am not okay
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Isn't counting posts even extra work for mods?
Not as much work as having to go through every single thread with a new post—which, if you'll recall, often went into the second page of the forum—to check for errors and rule violations.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Wouldn't just saying "don't over post in the Interview Booth... because we are busy people" work better than an actual limit? I'd rather have a simple warning and a reason rather than a legalistic standard. I mean, we aren't children after all.
Weeellll, technically, most of you are children—you're under eighteen, so legally, you're children. :P I mean, in all seriousness, many of the users who come onto this board and this forum specifically are pretty young and don't always know how to toe that line; having a set standard helps to corral that a little. It's not about treating you like children, it's about having some semblance of structure and order. Because when your rule is "just don't post too much", the question then becomes "Well, how much is too much?" Establishing a limit eliminates that question altogether.
*questions the SS rules*

*awaits to be banned*
No, no, not at all! I know you're joking, but as a mod, I welcome the curiosity. :) Obviously we can't tell you everything that goes on behind the scenes, but if you want to know why we make and enforce the rules the way we do, don't hesitate to ask. We don't have a problem with people questioning us; we have a problem with people being upset about the rules and then intentionally breaking them anyway.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:When does "being a fan" become "being an obsession"? Is it right too know more about a fandom than, say, theology/God/the Bible?
a. Probably when you behave like I do. :P (Though I admit that much of my fangirling is in jest, I know that I have a lot to learn about what it means to truly trust God and know Him and His character.)

b. That depends on what you mean by "knowing a lot". You can have a lot of intellectual knowledge about something, but not actually be intimately familiar with it. I might be able to rattle off all Ten Commandments from memory or tell you the names of all of Joseph's brothers or talk about some obscure passage in Judges or the Jewish histories, but if I don't actually have a relationship with Jesus Christ and allow Him to educate me in matters of the Spirit, then all my head knowledge means nothing. I'd say that what matters is your desire, more than anything else, because you can come into being a Christian with an encyclopedic knowledge of Star Wars and yet hunger and thirst for the righteousness and personhood of God, and the Star Wars fandom would not be an idol to you. It's a matter of where your heart lies, and once you recognize the red flags of idolatry (whether under your own steam or by someone pointing it out to you), God will be there to change the desires of your heart.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:If you could only use one writing utensil for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A mechanical pencil, definitely—one of those Papermate pencils with the thick, clear, round frame, rubber grip, and plastic, removable end that holds an eraser. In pink, of course. :P I like my writing much better in pencil than in pen; it has a kind of crispness to it that I really appreciate.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:What do you think of styluses (for touch devices)?
They can be really fun to play around with; when I used my iPad more regularly (I have a Macbook now, and it's kind of unsettling to me that the computer didn't automatically try to spellcheck the word "Macbook"), I used a stylus all the time. It was kind of fun to just jab at the screen and swipe dramatically whenever I needed something done. \:D/

Yeah, definitely, although I don't know how you thought they were boring in the first place. The first five minutes of the first episode had me hooked—though to each their own. (To be honest, given your parents' strictures on Harry Potter, I'm kind of surprised you were able to get ahold of Gravity Falls.)
Connie G. wrote:Do you ever change your avatar? How long have you had it? Would you use a set that matched if someone gave you one?
Sure, I change it; I did just now, in fact. I had the old one for...probably four or five months, maybe longer.

I might, depending on what the set looked like. I've done that before on the ToO. I just haven't done it here partly because I don't even know what such a thing would look like; I'm in so many fandoms right now that I don't have enough of a passion for just one of them to make a set, and I don't like aesthetic-y sets enough to use one of those for a long period of time.

I have a lot of freedom to look up things on my own. And I had no idea that was in the same category as HP. O.o

Well, I was thinking along the lines of "condones use and exploration of the supernatural" and "only parental figure is a crooked, swindling, sleazy businessman"; Harry Potter doesn't have the latter, but HP and Gravity Falls are in the same category of "portraying things that the Bible condemns in at least a moderately pleasant light".

If I had to rank them, it would be by how much I've invested in the work, how well I can analyze it at the drop of a hat, and how much fan material I've produced for it. So probably:

1. Harry Potter

2. Adventures in Odyssey

3. ...It's actually pretty hard to choose a third after those two. Maybe Disney, just to encompass all the animated canon, many of the films of which I really enjoy? Or Sonic the Hedgehog, since I've been into that since I was ten? Or maybe something else entirely that I'm not thinking of? I dunno, man. I'm sure I've got one, though.

I knew you'd bring that up. ;) However, from my memory, the only ones posting waaay too much, were all at least in 16+ age range... who deserve a little more respect than someone younger. (or require a little more respect in order to take someone seriously) For me personally, I would have just needed a warning, and I would have stopped. No where, when researching spam, would "overposting (with proper posts)" be brought up. (I Googled it for a while) Not all members of a forum realize that mods are required to read everything... and bringing this to attention to most people should help them realize this point. I mean, I think most of the people on this forum are very reasonable, and would understand. I get what you mean how a "specific number adds order", but there's also many reasons how that's not the best way of going about things. I mean, a mix of both ideas could be saying "slow down posts, because (blah blah), we recommend 7 posts as a good limit." But, you (SS team) chose how to handle it, so I digress.... And, come to think of it, you (SS team) did the same thing in "The Game Room", enacting a actual limit, rather than just a "don't post too much." However, in the Game Room case, there at least was a good and understandable reason. I don't mean to blaming anyone, I just feel this could have been handle a little bit better. ;)
