Isaiah the Ox wrote:PIANO QUESTIONS!
Noice!
Isaiah the Ox wrote:So, you play piano?
Yup.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Do you play by ear or by reading?
Both. I don't enjoy reading music, so I technically "prefer" playing by ear, but if I want to actually legitimately learn a song, I'll read the music so it's perfect.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Did you take lessons? If so, what books did you use, and how long did you take lessons?
I took lessons from probably around age 5 to 15. We used the Alfred books, but the last several years I was just doing sheet music, we had finished the books and he said I could play whatever I wanted.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:How good are you, really?
Not that great. I haven't played regularly in about a decade. Mostly my timing isn't very steady. People who don't play think I'm amazing, but anyone with any knowledge would definitely not think I'm anything special.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:What's your favorite song to play?
"Baby Elephant Walk" by Henry Mancini, from Hatari!
Isaiah the Ox wrote:What's your favorite key to pay a song in?
Don't have one.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Least favorite key?
Ditto. I'll just say I don't enjoy discordant music, if that helps. But I do enjoy minor keys, I think they're sad and haunting.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:How many sharps/flats does there have to be in order for a song to be difficult?
I never counted. I've never encountered a song that I couldn't learn, but maybe I didn't pick super difficult songs.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Do you wish you could play by ear/read sheet music? (whichever applies)
I wish that I could do both easier/more efficiently. I'm just okay at both.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:You do play piano, right? :anxious:
No, I've been making all this up. :wacky:
Isaiah the Ox wrote:What's the last song you played?
Probably "Now Do We Fight Them" by Bruce Rowland from Return to Snowy River.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:What piano do you have?
It's a Clavinova, basically a high tech (or used to be) version of a keyboard, with weighted keys.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Have you talked to Bethany Shepard? Because she loves PoTO! (Phantom)
I don't believe so. Thanks for the heads up!

Do you know how utterly boring music questions and the answers are to read? O.o

How was your foster sister murdered? O.o (If you don't want to talk about this, don't)
Dom wrote:Sounds like a typical Christian kid-issue, brought on by being way too immersed in disturbing doctrine. Your parents should be ashamed of themselves.
They didn't bring it on me. And it wasn't after I immersed myself in disturbing doctrine. It was my OWN burden.
Dom wrote:Again with the brain-washing. People accept the reality with which they are presented. SOMEDAY you'll stop accepting it, and I'll be happy.
Ha. No rather, I am just content, and don't view a culture as brain-washing. For all of us have a culture we are raised in. You have chosen the default culture of the world. No need to look down on me cause I chose a different one, unless you are going to tell the hippies and cowboy cultures that they are brainwashed too. I'll stop accepting it? In other words, you are saying I will go back on my vow to God to serve Him as long as I live, give up the faith, quit running the race, and turn coward? Not on your life.
Dom wrote:Probably roll my eyes. You're such the persecuted. You fancy that every negative thing makes you stronger.
Nah, that's not it. Simply analyzing your experiences and reaction to what I've said teaches me that. This isn't persecution. :P

Do you ever stop to wonder how, after having been on the Soda Shop for a little over two weeks, you already have 142 posts and 8 pages in your Q&A thread??

Do you think it's mostly because of (people like) Countess, and her reactions to your views?

At what age do you think children should be allowed to have phones (smartphones, in particular)?

haha Not particularly, nope. But I imagine it is because I have shown an interest in everyone else. :wacky:
Connie G. wrote:Do you think it's mostly because of (people like) Countess, and her reactions to your views?
There've been days where peeps double-posted. Of course there are some regulars who have been posting lots of questions. =) Countess sends and causes long replies so hers seem more obvious. I'm sure there's a flow chart for this somewhere.
Connie G. wrote:At what age do you think children should be allowed to have phones (smartphones, in particular)?
Oi. I mean, thankfully I never have to worry about this, since I don't intend to ever have kids... But I would be fine with younger kids having one of those special phones that only allows calls to four numbers, for emergencies. For SmartPhones, I dunno, probably 16 at the earliest. I still wouldn't like it. I know too much about what can be done with poorly supervised freedom and access to strangers.

I know that you find them boring. This was informative. :wacky:
Miss Friendship wrote:How was your foster sister murdered? O.o (If you don't want to talk about this, don't)
By her adoptive parents.
Miss Friendship wrote:You have chosen the default culture of the world.
If disbelief in God is the default, doesn't that go against your theory that we all inherently know there is a God/Creator?
Miss Friendship wrote:No need to look down on me cause I chose a different one
I don't look down on you as a person, I have said that I don't think any of this is your fault.
Miss Friendship wrote:you are saying I will go back on my vow to God to serve Him as long as I live, give up the faith, quit running the race, and turn coward? Not on your life.
I can't foresee the future, but countless people have done that, yes. And it is not the cowardly thing to do. As I've said, God is the concept that makes every terrible thing in life bearable. To believe He doesn't exist is the brave and difficult thing. Believing God does not exist means my foster sister has simply vanished from existence, after a short, horrific life of torture and abuse. If I believed in God, I could imagine her skipping through the daisies for eternity in Heaven. Tell me which takes more guts.
Miss Friendship wrote:How many times a day do you check Skype?
It's up 24/7 and it blinks when people talk to me, so I don't ever really "check it", it's just something that is always there and I'm almost always chatting with my friends/people I love when I'm at the computer.
Miss Friendship wrote:How old were you when you got your license?
I got my permit when I was 17, and my license when I was 19. I was in no hurry to drive and probably wouldn't have bothered even then, save for necessity.
Miss Friendship wrote:What do you want RIGHT NOW?
To fall asleep listening to my love whispering my special name.

I didn't say disbelief in God is the default, but rather the tendency toward sin or evil, which is what the world's Kingdom is composed of entirely. This includes atheism of course, but it is not the whole of it. And I am not sure I "believe" we all inherently know there is a God/Creator. I do think it possible for one to get so far away from God, ruin their conscience to the point of no return, and blaspheme the Holy Spirit in such a way, they do not even feel God for He has withdrawn from them.
Dom wrote: I have said that I don't think any of this is your fault.
Saying it's none of my fault however, says that it IS someone's else's fault. When it isn't. I chose this life. Sure, I was taught from others, but no one but me could make this decision to follow Christ.
Dom wrote:To believe He doesn't exist is the brave and difficult thing.
That is true, only IF He doesn't exist. If He does, then it is the most foolish thing one can do.

Wings, definitely. I used to dream that I was flying all the time when I was little, it felt amazing.
T.S. (myself) wrote:What was your favorite subject in school?
Anything to do with reading or writing.
T.S. (myself) wrote:Why do you put extra spaces in between sentences?
Example? Do you mean the literal amount of spaces between sentences inside one paragraph? If so, I was taught that THAT WAS PROPER. It drives me out of my mind that a few typing tests online now do single-spaced sentences. I think it looks awful, makes paragraphs look like giant run-on sentences, and I REFUSE TO SUBMIT TO THIS NONSENSICAL NONSENSE.   If you mean something else, I try to condense quotes and stuff as much as possible, but I do leave an extra space between each person, if I'm responding to multiple people in one post, see below. ;)
Miss Friendship wrote:I didn't say disbelief in God is the default, but rather the tendency toward sin or evil, which is what the world's Kingdom is composed of entirely.
Legit. Good, we agree, the world is evillllllll.
Miss Friendship wrote:I chose this life. Sure, I was taught from others, but no one but me could make this decision to follow Christ.
Eh. It's my opinion that most religious people are brain-washed, they think it's their choice but it's not, it's habit and culture.
Miss Friendship wrote:How many Skype friends do you have? Do you use the name "Dom" with all of them or just your online friends?
8 or 10. Dom is my Skype display name, so yes, I "use" it with them. But they all know my real name. Except you.
Miss Friendship wrote:Have you ever met a friend IRL you met online?
Yes.
Miss Friendship wrote:What is more wonderful: to love or to be loved?
Selfish though it may sound, I'm going to say "to be loved". Because loving someone when it's unrequited is freakin' miserable. Even if you simply want the best for them, it is still a painful kind of love. Being loved is pretty much shocking to me so even if I struggle to accept it, it's a completely incredible feeling.
Miss Friendship wrote:What food could you eat everyday of the year and not tire of?
The sauce from this one Mexican hole in the wall, on beans and cheese, with tortilla chips. It's to die for.
Miss Friendship wrote:Were you forced to wear dresses/skirts when you are younger? If so, does that now make you prejudiced against them?
Yes I was. Yes it does.

The first time was awkward, I was 16 and massively shy and unsocialized no thanks to my parents' insanity. Thankfully, my brother was there to help break the tension, and I was grateful to him for babbling about cars to the guy, to take attention away from how quiet I was. Hm, I've also met up with people at concerts and stuff, that was cool. If you don't know them that well beforehand, it feels a lot less awkward. Meeting someone you love is the best though. Incredible.
Miss Friendship wrote:Do you believe every human is lovable at some point in life?
As children.
Miss Friendship wrote:If you had to move to a different country and learn the language, what country would that be?
Hm, I'm much more interested in accents than other languages. Spanish can be extremely beautiful when spoken slowly. But I don't exactly want to move to a Spanish country. So if I could just move to any country, I'd say Scotland. :wacky:
Miss Friendship wrote:Have you ever been to a different country before?
Canada for an hour or two, just to be on that side of Niagara Falls. Mexico on missions trips a few times.
Blitz wrote:Why did we aggravate MF to keep debating?
No one knows.
Blitz wrote:Did you feel my absence? ;)
I did. I was displeased. Then amused. Then I laughed evilly.

Multiplayer is my main experience.

Mm'kay, not very SPECIFIC, but I'll make do. G'boy.
Mandy wrote:What kind of church did you go to when you younger?
We went to a somewhat large church, then we tried house church for quite a few years, then we went to a very large non-denominational church until I stopped attending around 17 years old. We tried to find a new one after my parents divorced, but nothing felt the same. I never felt God in any of the churches up here. Then eventually I didn't want to go anyway.
Mandy wrote:How many siblings do you have?
One here, seven "in Heaven".
Mandy wrote:Do you believe in God?
Not anymore. Hence the quotes around "in Heaven" above. Can't believe in one and not the other, really. Unfortunately.

Talking deeply, snuggling, being productive, taking pictures, listening to good music, eating good food.

Indeed. Left hand doesn't do much unless I can figure out some deeper stuff.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Like...are you old?
Like, totally.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Do you do anything for Christmas?
Normally, yes. This year it's postponed until January because life is teh suckage.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Do you think you might adopt?
If I ever got the pathetic instinct to have kids, yes, I would adopt rather than breed more. I do not foresee such an event ever happening.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:What pets do you want to have?
A dog, for sure. A python would be nice but only if I had a separate fridge and microwave to keep the meat in... I would love to have horses but that seems highly unlikely. I mean, TIGERS, but also...highly unlikely. I think a hedgehog would be really fun, or at least a novelty...but I don't really condone novelty pets because they tend to be abandoned or ill-cared for. I love all animals, I'd be happy with anything, honestly. My dream pet used to be a tuatara. I raised rabbits for a long time and would love to have them again. :wacky:
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Have you ever been on a farm?
What defines a farm? I have briefly been on a piece of land that contained a barn and a few chickens...
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Did you go to public school?
No, I was homeschooled all the way.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:What are your thoughts on politics?
I hate politics and the news. I have enough murder and mayhem in my own life, don't need any help thinking about it.

Sunsets. A cool breeze. Wildlife. An awesome song coming on the radio. Someone sounding happy to see me. Someone noticing I've done a good job. Someone hugging me for no good reason. Getting off work. Driving home blasting music with the windows down. Weekends. Waking up without an alarm. Dreaming about someone I love. Frigid delicious water. When you forget you bought that snack you really love, but find it in the cupboard and yay! When you have time to actually appreciate a good shower. Not killing a houseplant for once. A little kid smiling at me for no reason. Someone waving when I let them into traffic. Someone holding the door open for me, or thanking me for holding it open for them. Someone who provides genuine awesome customer service. Knowing the little things that matter to someone, and doing them. Someone knowing the little things about me. Speeding and weaving, whether it gets me there faster or not. Racing a random guy at a red light. Spotting someone I know around town. Hugs from my cousins. When you have just enough battery power left to get that perfect picture. When things work out right, ever... Efficiency. Productivity. Honesty. Noticing something new in a movie I've watched twenty times. Someone knowing my mood even online, with just a sentence or a lack of a smilie face. Long Skype afternoons. Playing games together while shrieking and laughing. Falling asleep together. Realizing I've been so caught up with someone that I've forgotten to eat...the entire day. Having my hand held when we walk across the ice. Unexpected grins. Vulnerability. Burn outs. Turning on a fan on a hot day. Waking up to something yummy being baked. Getting a package in the mail. Hitting all the green lights. When the toast comes out just right on the first try. Thinking about my Grandma. Working on my family tree. Finding a new horse. Visiting "my" animals around the local ranchy neighborhoods. Getting a perfect picture before turning back for the long drive home. Being alone. Being with someone. Looking in the mirror and smiling, for once. Inside jokes. Secrets. Smelling something that reminds me of childhood. Finding someone the perfect gift. Collecting things for scrapbooks. Reminiscing. Being cold but leaving the window open anyway. Interjecting the perfect shocking comment or joke. Feeling comfortable in one on one conversation. Feeling bold. Feeling acceptable. Guzzling orange juice with food that doesn't go with it at all. Finding a toy like I had when I was a kid. Making my own trail mix with a million different ingredients. Documenting things. Being organized. Impressing someone. Catching someone doing something adorable. Falling in love.

Miss Friendship wrote:So your parents were okay with online meet ups at that age? Was he your friend or your brothers?
No it was a really big deal. My mom came with, her and the other mother sat in the living room and talked. He was my friend, my brother had never talked to him before.
Miss Friendship wrote:If you found an abandoned infant, and the only way it would live is if you would care for it, would you do it?
You asked latch this. I mean, obviously I would take care of it, but I would be displeased forever. But who's gonna let it die, durr.
Miss Friendship wrote:Do you like naming things? Have you named your bike or your car? What's your favorite girl name? Favorite boy name?
Yes, I name lots of things. My last car was Goldie, my new SUV is Xander. My computer is Rocko. I love choosing names, but since I don't want kids I obviously had to shift from "baby names" to "character names", ha.

So I compiled a list of names like a decade ago...I just shaved off a ton of ones I don't like anymore, here's what's left...

Favorite guy names: Michael, Jason, Memphis, Justin, Orlando, Jesse, Austin, David, Sam, Ryan, Denver, Alexei, Max, John, Dustin, Kurt, Jack, Marshall, Phillip, Dallas, Mark, Buck, Toby, Wayne, Kip, Dominic/Dom, Miles, Camden, Kirk, Gerard, Rusty, Parker, Diego, Jackson, Sterling, Cole, Traa, Perry, Alphonso, Jose, Tristan, Clifford, Earl, Bud, Pete, Lestat, Julian, Dorian, Jace, Declan, Tesla, and Lomax.

Favorite girl names: Kate, Katie, Victoria, Amanda, Katherine, Jasmine/Jazz, Bailey, Eleanor, Aurora, Roxanne/Roxie, Jessica, Elsie, London, Tasha, Corinne, Diana, Noel, Penny, Verona, Claire, Kayla, Misty, Alex/Alexa/Alexandra/Lexi, Scout, Elena, Brooklyn, Parker, Brooke, Hunter, Aubrey, Sabra, Berlin, Dakota, Kinsey, Juliet, Belle, Riley, Lara, Madison, Darby, Jane, Paige, Chemene, Jocelyn, Kherrington, Jade, Briony, Jaslene, Elle, Jabreka, and Avery.
Miss Friendship wrote:Did you EVER want to have children at any point in your life?
When I was four or so, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I said a mommy. I was young and dumb back then, what can I say. But yeah, I grew up the way I was brainwashed to be...thought I was meant to get married, pop out babies, homeschool them, and bring people to Jesus. Ha. Ha ha. Ha. That changed somewhere in my later teens, and solidified in my very early 20's, and maybe five years ago it became a total non-option for me to ever want kids. Started off just being terrified of childbirth, and knowing I wasn't the kind of person who would want to waste their life homeschooling their kids. And then it was like, even if you pour your life into your kids, they can still turn around and give you the finger and say screw you, and throw away every single thing you ever tried to instill in them. Like my brother. Then it was watching my cousins pass their babies around like hot potatoes, always wanting someone else to wipe the drool and coo over them. It's so disgusting. It's your brat, YOU freakin' take care of it. No one else wants that. And then it became all about how evil the world was. I blatantly refuse to bring an innocent child into this horrific world. I can't imagine anything more selfish, stupid, pointless, and insane. This world is full of sick people, why would anyone subject an innocent child to that? I never will. That's why I hold by my kitten stance when it comes to kids... Save one, don't make another.

You could say that. You could say more than that.
