Are you going to let your children drink before the legal age?
At what point did you realize I wasn't a made up user?

My parents gave me occasional sips of beer and wine as I was growing up, I'll probably do the same. When I was 18 or so I could have a glass of wine at holiday meals.

Do any of your friends drink coffee? (Or do you not allow them to?)

I have no control over what my friends do, I don't really know if my friends drink coffee or not.

Do you have any Protestant friends IRL other than your family?
Is your family still Protestant and what kind of church do they go to?

So, can we say God is truth? Can we say He is just? Can we even say He is a Trinity? Or that He's God?
And, how come you are perfectly willing to say what the Church is...and not what it isn't? Isn't that contradictory? 0_o
@your Apophatic theology...

One of my best friends, who sadly moved down to Lynchburg, is Protestant. As are two of the people in my D&D group. I also just had a friend from high school at Leah's thing that is Protestant.Miss Friendship wrote: you have any Protestant friends IRL other than your family?

My family is still Protestant. My sister and her fiance go to a non-Reformed non-denominational church, my brother and his fiance go to a Southern Baptist church, and my parents go to a PCA Presbyterian church.
We can say those things, that is Cataphatic theology and is a good starting place but it is Apophatic theology that gets into God's transcendent qualities.Isaiah the Ox wrote:So, can we say God is truth? Can we say He is just? Can we even say He is a Trinity? Or that He's God?

No that isn't a contradiction, I can define what the Church and say very clearly where it is but God saves whom He will so I can't say where the Church isn't.

I had a dream about you last night. You took me to your church. Not quite sure how you managed that considering I've vowed to never go to church again barring funerals and weddings. Maybe you bribed me with gin and tonics. Anyway. I liked your church. At least the version of it in my dream.
just thought I'd share.

Well if you ever make it out my way I will bribe you with gin and tonics to go to church with me and we'll see if reality matches the dream.
I was with a group that was lobbying the Senate judiciary committee about federal judge nominees. We'd do background research on judge nominees and present what we thought were objectionable views they held. I left when I found that a judge had written a key decision opposing the use of torture and I presented it as a reason to endorse a judge and my boss said it was a reason to oppose his nomination.

It's not true but you have a different standard of too fancy.

Since when do you know what my standard is? I thought it was I who needed to learn a lesson in assuming. Obviously not.

From reading things on the other forum I get the sense that any ornate decoration or extra things would be seen as frivolous or wasteful, am I wrong?
