In the Truth Chronicles they did a spoof on Spongebob!

here from time to time....
Psalm 73:24
Psalm 73:24
The episode 'Two Sides to Every Story'...goodness...my memory..I think that's what it was called? Anyways, it was based on some sort of Japanese movie about these criminals with different sides to the story. And of course the classic movie 'It's a Wonderful Life' is tied into the whole Barclay family saga....the names...parts of the plot. In the episode where they started B-tv...or was it kids radio...they did a spoof of Ninja Turtles. In the episode Connie Goes to Camp, the girl whose obsessed with tv makes references to real tv shows...as do her friends. Umm...this will sound silly but I never cared for allusions to secular pop culture in Odyssey. I think of as Odyssey as a safe, secure place hidden from the outside world...yes...even with tunnels being blown up and mind controlling devices. It just feels weird when Star Trek (which isn't always very G-rated) and such...comes into contact with what I consider the highest and purest level of entertainment. I guess it makes things funnier and incites a sense of familiarity...but still. All of those shows are like everything else in this world...and those shows reference other shows...but Odyssey is different...it's REAL... (to me) and when reality meets fiction...*sigh* I never heard the SpongeBob one, but I never allow my siblings to watch SpongeBob...*shakes head*

You don't let them? How cruel. How inhuman. Suppression of the right to watch Spongebob.
(I have never watched Spongebob.)
One can see where you're coming from, Sage. But spoofing and referencing fiction, when the characters are deliberately do so, helps draw us into the Odyssey world. Far from making it less real, it can make it more believable. What kind of town would it be where TV and mainstream entertainment never came up? Now that would be unrealistic.
On the other hand, that's different from when, say, The Labyrinth made Jason a bit of a James Bond imitation. It was funny, but such things are unfortunate reminders that Odyssey is nowhere in our real world. But let's not bunch the two up together and say they're both bad.

In Day in the Life, the movie Terminal Exterminator starring Arnold is mentioned. Obviously a spoof on Terminator.

Some of my friends today were reminescing of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies from the '90s. That reminded me of the sewage plant director in Pipe Dreams who had to rush off because some boys had taken off a manhole cover trying to be "Mutated Amphibians, or something like that."

Haha
That one always makes me laugh...
Also, in Treasure Hunt, with Eugene and Isaac, Eugene is asked by Dern why he was there, and Eugene said that when he had heard "war games," he had thought the treasure hunt was actually a computer contest. I believe this is a spoof on the 1960(?) movie War Games.

It was in I Want My BTV! that they spoofed the Ninja Turtles--"Teenage Blackbelt Metamorphosaurs". They also spoofed the Power Rangers and "Blarney the Rhinosaur". It was funny that all the shows were dinosaur-themed.
I just listened to that ep.

Thanks.
And I'm listening to Audio Theatre Central's review of Album 57, and they remark that the figurines in June Kendall's house were called "Precious Momentos," a spoof on Precious Moments figurines.

I was listening to Aloha Oy with my family and my parents laughed when they mentioned the Hawaii 5 101, or whatever it is, so apparently that was a show, and they changed the name of the guy in it. I love how odyssey does that

I believe the show (though I don't remember the reference) is Hawaii Five-O. I believe it was some action show several decades ago.

I dont remember the name of the episode... Its the one where Monty and his sister come to visit Whit, and the sister does everything better than Monty, but anyway... At one point, Whit walks in on Monty, who is blaring some rock music. It almost sounds like an imitation of the Christian rock band Petra.
Castles and Cauldrons is an obvious rip off of Dungeons and Dragons.

Yes, he did. Obviously.
Perhaps Captain Obvious should join Captain Absolutely. Who, incidentally, is also a spoof on superman and other supers... obviously.

Really? I always considered Captain Absolutely in his own special category. Though it may be a "rip-off", as you say, of your stereotypical superhero, he does have some points that are all his own, as well as that special Odyssey touch.
So, were you referring to any hero specifically that he seems to be patterned after, or were you just meaning in general?
