Well, see, to try and win that one woman who had botanical interests, he pretended to be a flower lover. That's a kind of lying, pretending to be someone you're not, and it always leads to trouble.

You can say that again! I didn't really like Seth's attitude very much. The Old Judge wrote:Well, see, to try and win that one woman who had botanical interests, he pretended to be a flower lover. That's a kind of lying, pretending to be someone you're not, and it always leads to trouble.

Do you remember how he told Aubrey that he acts like "the carefree boy she needs him to be" when referring to his mother, but when Aubrey talked to Mrs. Young about salvation and if Seth had ever talked to her about it, she said, "Oh, my Sethy is too carefree for spiritual things."

I remember that. It seemed kind of...odd. Anyways, somewhere in there he didn't seem very sincere or something. The Old Judge wrote:Do you remember how he told Aubrey that he acts like "the carefree boy she needs him to be" when referring to his mother, but when Aubrey talked to Mrs. Young about salvation and if Seth had ever talked to her about it, she said, "Oh, my Sethy is too carefree for spiritual things."

Seth definitely went too far, and even if he was that successful in winning people to God, if they found out he had been lying, their entire thought process might be reversed. However, part of what he did with the gardening woman was perfect. He went too far in trying to disguise himself, but in its essence, it was part of the strategy in 'How to Win Friends and Influence People'. The idea is to compliment people on things about them; to show interest in their lives and accomplishments. That is part of what Seth did, but he took it way to far in trying to become all things to all people. He was not executing this as Paul suggested.

To me, he was a funny, unrealistic, fictional character which went over the top to reach people for the cause. I wonder if what it would sound like if he pretended to be a Jesus Freak?

I'm glad Aubrey stood fast to what she believed even though Seth tried to influence her the wrong way.

Well guys, Seth is played by Robin Knight, and Nelson (Swanson) is played by Georgina Cordova, another girl.
