So this really doesn't deserve a whole topic, but I was listening to the Journal of John Avery Whittaker, and for whatever reason a bit stood out to me that hadn't before. Basically Jack is walking along, and these bullies come out and start calling him names or whatever. And he kinda does the sweetest. He starts saying,
"Sticks and stones may..."
to himself. I don't know why but this struck me as super interesting. Maybe it was because I watched the new Doctor Who episode yesterday and I won't explain but if any of you have seen it you might know what I'm talking about. (The guy that repeats positive phrases to himself) Anyway, what a cool character thing! I can just see Jack kinda shyly going to his mom about the fact that he's being bullied, and she gives him this little phrase to tell himself. And he's just trying so hard and it breaks my heart. I guess my point is that young Jack is really the best character and he's super deep and cool and I really want to buy the Young Whit series to learn more about him. Or write more fanfiction. Or both.
So! I guess this is a Jack appreciation board now?

"Let me get this straight. I bet all those non-friends of yours try to embarrass you about your love for that stuff, right? So, you almost feel like you have to hide your treasures away and can only take them out in secret on rainy days when your mom goes to the store to get more liver and nobody is around to berate your sensitive spirit. Is that what you’re saying?" -Jay Smouse

I love Jack. He is honestly my favorite adult on the show. Unlike Whit, he didn't have all the answers and that was honestly refreshing.
