I don't really think he's photogenic but... HE IS EXTREMELY BIG AND MANLY! If anyone has watched "Seven Brides, For Seven Brothers" or "Annie Get Your Gun" or "Kiss Me Kate"... you would think the same. O.o (he also has a amazingly deep manly voice, singing or otherwise)
