But I still retain what I said. One Direction is someday just going to become like the Jonas Brothers, just another obsolete boy band.
I think they're already at "Justin Bieber" status—they were inescapable one minute, and now they're old news. You don't hear about them or their latest songs nearly as much as you used to. I'm with you, underseasie; I'm pretty sure they're going to be just another of many (and when you think about it, considering the Backstreet Boys and N*SYNC before them, they kind of already were).underseasie wrote:One Direction is someday just going to become like the Jonas Brothers, just another obsolete boy band.
Yes, plus it looks like they may be going off the deep end...Belle wrote: I happen to think that they're just getting too old, and it's pretty creepy now...
I thought of this statement when I saw this picture of them...TigerShadow wrote:They're all young adults, and yet they look younger than I did at sixteen.
Hmm. They've experienced a growth spurt, it seems.Belle wrote:I thought of this statement when I saw this picture of them...TigerShadow wrote:They're all young adults, and yet they look younger than I did at sixteen.
They certainly are. I, the Ducky, am one of those haters that you speak of with so much contempt. I don't actually hate them for the reasons that most people do. I don't really find their voices "annoying" or "unmasculine", nor do I think that they're "just another boy band". Obviously, if they were "just another boy band", they wouldn't have half of the population of girls between the ages of 11 and 14 obsessing over them. I don't even really care that they don't write their own songs (though apparently they did at least co-write a couple on their new album) or play their own instruments.gablerbage8 wrote:#hatersgonnahate

But they shamelessly rip off classic rock bands in their songs (The Who's "Baba O'Riley" in "Best Song Ever" and The Clash's "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" in "Live While We're Young") and then attempt to put themselves on the same level with those bands. Their music often comes off as bland, no different from any other music that you can find by artists with better ideas. And sometimes I wonder just how much each member contributes to the song. There are five of them, but sometimes I can only hear one singing at a time. Or, when they are all singing at once, the song can get bogged down with all the voices. I also just have a general dislike of electronic sounding music, so it's more of a personal bias than anything. I am also at a complete loss as to how they attract females so easily. They seem kind of ugly to me. But what do I know about attractive men? I assure you, absolutely nothing. Still, "Harry" (despite his name, which would lead me to believe quite the contrary) has awful hair.

Anyway, I can sort of kind of maybe not really see how some people like them, but I will leave you, gablerage8, Directioner (a term I must admit I have never heard before) to the end, with this hashtag.

I think that some do, and I think I might know a few. :pArnoldtheRubberDucky wrote:No, I don't think that anyone really listens to them just because they're "really hot".
1) ProofAnd One Direction have been ever so much more popular than any pop band of this era they have 'copied' so, you have NO room to talk. But, artists frequently copy each other, which is not always a bad thing.
There are much, much, much better singers that aren't popular because they don't have great faces. And they get a ton of their fame from girls who have fallen in love with them.gablerbage8 wrote:![]()
Don't give me the "They wouldn't be famous if they weren't really hot" thing. Trust me, I know people who say that. Yeah, I bought the album to listen to their faces
Well, One Direction celebrated their four year anniversary in july, and Ahhhhh.... yes, Zayn MalikClaraOswald wrote:*snickers*underseasie wrote:Eehhhh...One Direction is just another boy band that nobody'll care about in 2 years.
I do like "What Makes You Beautiful", but that's it. I think that they're very overrated, but they do sound awesome together... you can thank Simon Cowell for that xD
But if I were to pick a favourite, it would be Zayn. I'm partial to dark haired guys. Unless it's my crush. xD
