Re: Creationism or Evolutionism.

So was this massive destruction and death of "other things" part of God's "very good" creation...?

Re: Prayer Requests!

Please pray for me! I've been wondering if I'm a christian, and, I don't know what I'm gonna do!!! Just trust in the work of Christ, GW. The very fact that you're unsure, and that you care about the state of your soul is a good sign that God has saved you. Just continue to put your hope in the righ...

Re: Christian vs. Catholic

I find it quite humorous as well, because I don't think Sam realized that she was saying the same thing I was. But, obviously, I disagree with the idea of Mary's original sin being removed, so we do disagree there.

And, I'm sure you know, but I don't hold to what St. John of Damascus says. ;)

Re: Christian vs. Catholic

Okay... so it would be wrong for God to change Mary's heart against her will, in order to get her to consent to His will... but it's totally fine, just because it's official Catholic theology, for God to, without consulting with Mary, remove original sin from her before she's born so that she still ...

Re: Creationism or Evolutionism.

Okay. So you're conceding it. :P That's all I was wondering. I just don't think that fits with the rest of Scripture very well, but I understand why you believe that.

Re: Christian vs. Catholic

Okay, let me rephrase that. God didn't need Mary in and of herself to agree with what He was doing. He's God. He wasn't just going to go from woman to woman until He found one that would consent to His will. He chose Mary, and He worked in her heart so that she would consent to His will.

Re: Creationism or Evolutionism.

Does that have something to do with the idea that you would have to concede that there was death before the Fall?

Re: Creationism or Evolutionism.

Good question. I'm still figuring that out, because there is a teacher I respect who holds to the framework hypothesis viewpoint. I think it's basically because it doesn't take what the Bible says at face value, and it tries to reinterpret it based on what modern science seems to tell us. But, like ...

Re: Christian vs. Catholic

She may be giving her consent, but her consent was not needed. It was a plus that she was consenting, and it was evidence of the Holy Spirit's work in her heart, but no, it wasn't really her choice, as evidenced by the passage that GG posted.

Did you possibly mean 1 John 4:1-13? That chapter is more focused on love than Chapter 5. ;)

Re: Creationism or Evolutionism.

You are correct, Doctor, the word "yom" can mean many things. But the majority of the time, it means a literal, 24-hour day. Furthermore, any other time in Scripture it is found alongside an ordering number (e.g. first, second, third, etc.) (as in Genesis 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, and 31), it al...

Re: What Your Prayers Sound Like to God

*facepalm* Leave it to you to take the analogy too far. :P I don't know if one or the other was supposed to be God or Jesus or the Holy Spirit or what, but I thought it made a nice point. I don't even know if the skit was even supposed to be symbolic in the first place. Maybe Todd just found it and ...

What Your Prayers Sound Like to God

I thought this was humorous, and yet thought-provoking and very true. It really makes you think about how much God, specifically, the Holy Spirit and Jesus, does for us, with regard to our prayers. And it makes you feel like you could never be grateful enough for His help in that regard. But then......
