Grady McKay

Grady lives with his mother and sister in Odyssey. Sometimes his mom has trouble making ends meet, but Grady always tries to help her in any way he can. Grady loves hanging out at Whit’s End and with mailman Wooton Bassett.

Grady's character has developed much in the time since his character was created. He is a huge Power Boy fan, and collects both Power Boy trading cards and comics, often given to him by Wooton for free. His favorite character is Beth the Barbarian.

When we first met Grady, he was, to quote his mother, 'rebellious and angry'. He felt that the world had walked on him, and was ready to walk right back on everybody else. He also struggled with a deep bitterness towards his father. However, as he came into contact with Wooton Bassett and Mr. Whittaker, he began to see in them the father he'd been missing, and in a veiled way, began to understand how God is the perfect father. Grady had quite a struggle grasping the concept of forgiveness, and right vs. wrong, but as he appeared more and more, he seemed to grasp it better. His temper occasionally flares up, causing him to do things he later regrets, but as his character develops he struggles to control it more, and he is turning into a sweet young boy. His recent conversion to Christianity has opened up a new door for him.

Grady's special friends are Wooton Bassett and John Whittaker. He has a special relationship with Marvin Washington because Marvin gave him his bike. Grady has an ongoing feud with Rodney Rathbone. He has occasional run-ins with other people, but Rodney is his only real enemy.
