August 2003

Saturday, August 30, 2003

The month of August seems to have quickly swept behind us. Where does the time go? I believe a new poll will be up in two days and I'll probably have a new review. Feel free to check back.

Thursday, August 28, 2003

It's getting to the end of the month and Polls & Forums might just be waiting for your vote. Head on over and vote if you haven't already. I've extended the Forum through September due to the problems we were having earlier this month.

Webmaster of Respectable Website Shocks Visitors -By I.M. Fake, Editor

A disturbed hush falls over the crowd as Jacob Isom steps into his high school this morning. He is, in fact, a senior. That's a scary thought. What's even scarier is that he turns 18 today. That's enough to make us cringe and hide under our covers for the rest of our lives! What will become of this horrible story? Tune in during the days ahead to see where the plot will take us... Don't worry. We'll leave the light on for you.

Well, today is my last day of summer, for tomorrow I return back to school. Ain't it the pits? It'll probably rob me of some of my time. That means less new stuff may or may not show up here at the Scoop. I'll do what I can. Good luck if you're in school!

Sunday, August 24, 2003

I just updated the ScoopMail page with two more FAQ questions. Some people are just a little confused on some things. That's understandable. I would probably not fully understand it either.

I think it's about time that the Misc section has a redesign. The old design was a quick version I cooked up just to get it done. This, however, looks much better. Check it out. Feel free to send me your comments over at Contact Us.

Today I'm proud to present a brand-new e-mail service. It's totally free, and I'm sure many of you will enjoy it. Be sure to check it out. Head over to ScoopMail. This is one of the first big steps this site has taken in a long time.

The Pact

*****

"Since Nathan Hoobler joined the team at Adventures in Odyssey, I’ve been pleased with every episode he’s written..."

My Review today is The Pact, another good example of a Nathan Hoobler classic. Be sure to check out how I feel about the show.

It's been almost a week since I posted my latest Review, due to all the sudden problems with the site (please check yesterday's update). Now it's time to reveal another:

For the Fun of It

*****

"...Very interesting. I almost wish I would have been that creative in naming my animals."

Fortunately, this past week I had the opportunity (and the stress) to catch up on my reviewing, and somehow managed to catch up completely. I guess I'll just keep releasing them every few days so there's new updates to look forward to. Also if you'll look on the right column far below on this page, you'll notice that I've put up a permanent "Improvements" column.

You may have already seen the notice above, but we have good news! All forms on this website are working again, which means I'll be able to receive your Forum entries! I apologize once again that I wasn't able to receive your forums over the past few months, or anything else for that matter. In the future I will be making periodic checkups to make sure everything is functioning properly so this never happens again. All sections that were affected but are not now include:

If you submitted anything under any of those in the past month, you may want to try re-submitting it again so I'll get it. If you're working on your Forum for the Awards, please get that submitted! We're still at 4 participants! Again, sorry for the mistake.

Friday, August 15, 2003

I have an important notice to inform you about. For some odd reason, every form on this website (the things you type in and click 'submit' to send me e-mails, forums, etc.) stopped working nearly a month ago. If you've been wondering why I haven't been responding to your emails or if you submitted a Forum or interview, I didn't get anything. I have received nothing for over the past month and have been wondering why. Until further notice, please send anything to jacob@odysseyscoop.com and I'll get back with you. If you would like to submit a Forum entry, please send it to me there. I'm trying to get the problem resolved, but it may be a little while longer than I had originally thought. I apologize for the inconvenience in the event that any site stuff was lost (your stuff). Please disregard any forms you see posted on the website. They don't work. I think the problem should be fixed tomorrow or later.

On another note, I hope you're doing well with all these power outages across the country. Weird, huh?

The American Revelation

*****

"Now that the machine holds up to ten people, has turbo lifters, and compression struts, I do not care to experience any more Bible stories or famous historical encounters..."

Yep, I've posted another Review today. This time it's for The American Revelation. Don't forget to get your entry submitted for the Forum Awards 5 over at Polls & Forums. Also info on the season premiere of Adventures in Odyssey has been updated on the 2003 Episodes page.

Sunday, August 10, 2003

Click here. Only four people have submitted their entries for the next Forum Awards 5 and we need more to make this work!

Friday, August 8, 2003

Available now from Adventures in Odyssey are the first two re-released albums about Odyssey. The Adventure Begins and Stormy Weather are the new titles.

Due to the fact that there are now two cover arts for these two albums (as well as all future albums), the Albums pages have been updated with a new look to follow a new format. Only the first ten albums have been updated, however, all pages will eventually be updated with the "Gold Audio Series" of AIO, pictured above. AIO plans on releasing four new albums in this series each year and has no plans to stop until the entire series has been through a "Gold Audio" design. I guess AIO changed their minds about only updating the first fifteen albums.

Time for yet another Review! I'm really pumping these things out!

Benefit of the Doubt

*****

"The calmer music style helped me to take in the episode without being overwhelmed by too much music..."

I've cooked up another Review! Wow, I forgot how much work it is to review episodes!

For Trying Out Loud

*****

"I’m not exactly sure what AIO’s recent fixation with twinkies has been, but it fit in nicely... Twinkies remind me of Wooton."

Be sure to check out all the reviews from the 2003 Season on the right column further down this page.

Monday, August 4, 2003

I finally have got the Reviews section moving along again and have reviewed a new show:

The Toy Man

*****

"I'm okay with the introducing of new characters, but when AIO introduces an entire family and doesn't exactly tell us anything about them, I get mad..."

Be sure to check it out. I hope to put out a new review every several days until I'm completely caught up. That way I'll be ready for the new season which begins in September! Also today I updated the AIO FAQ question I recently released: "In the episode "What Do You Think?", what are the words to the second verse of the song that the teacher sings - "Three Little Froggies All Unwary?" Apparently, Tim Peterson had more information than I did. Thanks, Tim!

Oh yeah, since this site is getting so BIG, I thought it was time to post a Site Map. Hopefully it'll be helpful... to someone out there. If you get lost, then that's the place to be. However, I hope you don't get lost. That's one of my major goals for this website.

Friday, August 1, 2003

I've been preparing a special treat for you all! Today I've got a load of updates, all of which you will find interesting.

  • Nathan Hoobler, staff writer for Adventures in Odyssey, has cooked up a special article titled "BTV: Behind the Scenes: Behind the Scenes." It's an interesting and detailed look at the creation of the episode. Head on over to Extra! Extra! to read up on it.

  • I've also finally updated the AIO F.A.Q. section with 18 new questions. I handed two of the questions over to Jared Walczak because I had no idea how to answer them. Be sure to check them out! If you asked a question a while back, it's now posted (except for Gregory's).

  • The new August Poll has been posted, and the July 2003 results are in. Don't forget to get your entry in for the Episode-Speak forum. You have until the end of August to participate. Get to work!

  • Finally, Chicken Soup has been updated with a new poem "The Gift."

I hope you enjoy all the exciting new updates. I've been needing to get some of these things up for a long time.
