Jared Walczak

Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Jared Walczak.  But, on the Town Hall Message Board, I go by … umm … Jared Walczak.  What to tell about me?  I like Odyssey (otherwise I wouldn’t fill out this interview), enjoy a good game of chess, I have designed a few websites (www.mountzionbaptist.org, www.walczakconsultants.com, my Odyssey site, http://aioserve.cjb.net, and a few others), ride a dirtbike, listen to Old Time Radio.  I listen mostly online, but I like listening to my short-wave radio as well.  It’s a 1957 Zenith Trans-Oceanic All Transistor Royal 1000 – no one knows what that means?   Oh well….

How did you become captivated by Adventures in Odyssey?

I heard a few episodes on the radio, and really liked it.  I have to admit, the first episode I heard was rather boring and I decided I didn’t like Odyssey.  Good thing for me I heard a very good episode the next time, and have enjoyed AIO ever since.  I now have all 36 albums.

Who is your favorite character on AIO, and why?

Probably Eugene, or Jack Allen, or Jason, or….you get the idea.  Characters that are well developed, preferably adults, have actual adventures (after all, it IS called Adventures in Odyssey – please no more the Imaginary Friend or Bethany’s Flood episodes!), which are distinct from other characters without being separate from reality (for an example of those separate from reality, listen to Welcoming Wooten).

Which character do you think that you resemble the most and why?

Most resemble?  Maybe Eugene because I really like working on computers.  Then again, I’m 15 and STILL not in college, so I guess I’m not that much like Eugene. (Note: I’m actually only in 10th grade in case you wondered)

Who is your favorite actor?

Will Ryan.  No reason, he just is.

If you could meet one actor, who would it be?

Will Ryan.  No reason, I just would.

Would you ever consider working on Adventures in Odyssey? If so, what expertise?

Would I consider it?  Sure… Would I REALLY consider it?  Apply for a position?  Probably not.   For one thing, my writing ain’t half good (to quote Jenny from The Triangle).  I have done some basic computer sound editing work, but nothing major.  I can’t act.  I very much doubt I will ever work on Adventures in Odyssey.

If you had one suggestion for a future show, what would you suggest?

Please, please, PLEASE! … an exciting show!  Adventure, mystery, ANYTHING that doesn’t involve Alex’s bugs, Gumper’s hill, the Shepherd family, or any of the boring plots of the last few years.   Danger Signals was much improved, but still no exciting adventures or riveting mysteries.

How often do you listen to AIO?

Every day.  At least one episode, often more.  I listen while I work at my computer.

What is your favorite section of the Odyssey Scoop?

The main page. I know you’re laughing, but really, I mean it!  I like the daily notes on what’s going on with AIO.  Besides that, the Extra, Extra section.

Our Response: Actually, you know what my favorite page of my site is? THE MAIN PAGE! I think because (in my opinion) it looks the nicest and it's fun to log into the site and update everyday. I love webdesigning, and the Odyssey Scoop is great practice for me!

What is your favorite section of Whitsend.org?

Wonderworld, because it’s so close to the actual radio drama version of Wonderworld – without your imagination, it’s rather boring.  In fact, there’s nothing there.  Not even wood or nails.  Just a message saying that Wonderworld will open soon.  It’s only been 1 and ½ years.  (By the time this is published, it SHOULD be open.  We’ll see.)   Really, I don’t like the Official Site that much.  I guess the Library, but I think a wealth of information could be stored on that site, and instead they have put games meant for small kids.  The majority of hits to that site are from people over 12 – Focus, please make this site more interesting for your older listeners.

If you could change one thing about AIO, what would it be and why?

Eugene shouldn’t have disappeared….the Barclays shouldn’t have disappeared….Jared DeWhite shouldn’t have disappeared….Oh, that’s three things…how about this: Bring everyone back (except for Lucy – I have to agree with Dan Shane, she’s annoying!).

Do you have any comments, questions, suggestions, etc?

Not really.  Then again, I’m not really thinking very hard.  Never mind, that’s normal.  Anyone who wants to can email me at jared@jaredwalczak.com; also, please check out my Odyssey website, http://aioserve.cjb.net; through it I supply the AIO TriviaServe seen on a variety of AIO websites including this one.  I need trivia questions everyone.  Please help!   Going to add more features for AIO sites soon.  One more thing, thanks for a great site Jacob.  Keep up the good work!
