Anne
How long have you been a fan of Adventures in Odyssey?
I really don't know, but
probably since I was ten or so. I stopped listening in high school, but then I
started listening when I began college. I found the site where I can listen
online, and that has renewed my interest and fascination in AIO. So, for 12 or
so years, I guess.
What is your favorite episode of all time?
I have two actually. But the
more favorite of the two is A License to
Drive. I start laughing when I even think or hear about that episode. The
second one is Modesty is the Best Policy.
I have liked a lot of other episodes, but these two stand out above the rest.
What is your favorite
AIO web site?
My favorite AIO site is this
one! There is so much good information on it, and it is original and creative,
and made by one of the fans! I also like the AIO
HQ site, but not as much as this one.
If you could meet one actor, who would you meet and why?
Oh, I know this one! It would
be the actor who plays Eugene Metzger: Will Ryan. He
is so incredibly talented and creative. Why? Eugene is so inspiring to me,
and the actor does so much with Eugene's character. I feel that when I hear Will
Ryan, I am captivated and blessed. Will Ryan is one of the very best AIO actors
of all times.
Which character do you resemble the most and why?
I resemble Eugene in many
ways. I am careful with details and use precise language as much as possible. I
like big words, and I have a large vocabulary. I also love to study and learn
and college has been so awesome for me. I am not socially talented just like
Eugene, who can stumble all over himself so well! :-) I stumble all over myself
sometimes, and I still have a lot to learn yet about social etiquette. Yet, I am
valued as a person by more people than I ever expected. I would fit right in
with Eugene and his ways of doing things.
Who is your favorite character and why?
Eugene Metzger!!!! He is my
most favorite, and AIO has just never been the same since he married Katrina and
left AIO. I really like him because he reminds me so much of myself and the
lessons he learns, I find myself wanting to learn as well. I really miss Eugene!
I hope they have not deleted his character forever! Connie is nice, but get back
to Eugene and Katrina!!! To me, they are the true life of AIO. Mr. Whittaker is
my second favorite character, but Eugene still tops him for me. Why so much
focus on Connie and Mitch? Their relationship is so strange. I want AIO to bring
Eugene back. Where are Eugene and Katrina? Why did they have to disappear? AIO
has lost a lot since Eugene and Katrina had to hide from Adored. It will be a
sad day when Eugene is officially retired as a character forever.
In your opinion, what do I need to change about my website?
I really like it. The design
is nice. I would try to add even more life and color and variety to your site.
Keep visitors guessing as to what new things you are going to add to your site.
If you could change anything about
AIO, what would it be and why?
Bring Eugene and Katrina
back!!! Connie and Mitch need to break up. Connie needs to grow up. Mr.
Whittaker needs to become more involved in the kids' lives. The Washington
family needs to be retired. They need better plots and character lives. Xavier
and Mrs. Washington are pretty good, but the rest of the family is truly
annoying. Also, I would have a separate series of episodes for teens/young
adults. I can enjoy only so much of the kids' episodes because I do not relate
now that I am an adult. I would like a young adult series that brings new and
more complex issues into the series. Maybe a separate AIO for teens. AIO has
been less interesting and more annoying for me lately. Liven it up! Make it have
more spark and more true adventure! The slice of life shows need to be more
practical and realistic, even for the kids.
How do you imagine Whit's End and the town of Odyssey?
Odyssey is like my hometown.
Small, but not tiny, clean, with mostly happy people who know most everyone.
Whit's End is like a modest sized building for kids to enjoy. The building is a
little bit away from downtown, closer to the outskirts, but not in the country
either. Just in a nice section of town that is not too busy. Whit's End has an
attractive sign that is not flashy or ugly. It is modest, nice, and most
inviting. A simple building in a simple town that is peaceful and quiet.
If you had your own
AIO site, what would you put on it?
If I could create a neat AIO
website, I would add word games, crossword puzzles, picture puzzles, pictures of
actors/AIO crew, logos, information about the webmaster, episode reviews,
forums, polls, chat rooms, links outward, a weekly quote, information about
actors and characters, information about fans, a time line, maybe an "AIO
scrapbook," pictures of Odyssey/characters, episode information, articles,
sound clips, wallpaper, a running history of each character and what is
happening with them as time goes on, a list of "retired characters," a
list of the most favorite characters of all time, and most favorite actors of
all time, a clock that counts how long Odyssey has been around, a countdown to
each new season, album information, pictures of the album covers, a separate
list of all the albums that are now on compact disc instead of on cassette, lots
of color and creative designs for each separate section, and more that I cannot
think of right now.
What is your favorite section of
whitsend.org?
I would say that I like the
Kids Radio section the best. My second favorite is the Library.
What is your favorite section of the Odyssey Scoop, my site?
I like the
"homepage" the best. My most favorite section is hard. I like the
Extra Extra and Misc sections, also the Reviews, and if I had to choose, I would
say the Reviews section. It is very interesting to see the reactions of other
people to new episodes of AIO. It gives me a new perspective on the episode
being reviewed.
Do you have any comments or questions?
Are we fans ever going to
hear from Eugene and Katrina again? Are we done with Adored now? Will we
encounter this evil again? Why has Mr. Whittaker never remarried? Why has Jason
Whittaker never gotten married? What is up with all the focus on Connie and
Mitch? Does Agent Borland have any other children besides Mike? What ever
happened to Whit's End Connellsville, and why did it disappear? Does Jack Allen
have any children? Does Joanne Allen have any children? What ever happened to
the Mulligan family? Does Katrina Metzger have any siblings? Does Eugene Metzger
have any siblings? Does Mr. Whittaker have any siblings? What happened between
Jana Whittaker and her husband? Why are they divorced? What does Jana Whittaker
do for a living? Why is Connie not attending college? How old is Robert
Mitchell? What school does Mandy Straussberg attend? Is she still in elementary
school? Why has Rodney Rathbone never graduated from high school? Does Rodney
have any siblings? Does Mrs. Rathbone have a job? Is there a public library in
Odyssey? What happened to Mr. Whittaker's father and what is his name? Where
does Mr. Whittaker's father live or when did he die? How did Jason Whittaker
avoid being drafted during the Vietnam War? What about Jenny Whittaker's family?
Why do we know so little about her and her family? Who did Jack Allen first
marry? Was it his friend Emily?
I really like this AIO
website!
Our Response:
All
I can say is... wow. Most of your questions can be answered with a simple
"Keep listening," one of those terms that AIO fans hate hearing when
they write to Focus on the Family. The other questions can be answered with a
"Huh?" or "Why?"
Keep listening, Anne!
