How long have you been a fan of Adventures in Odyssey?
I have been a fan since 1994, when I heard my first episode. I don't remember what it was but I know for that year I got my first AIO album,
Grins Grabbers and Great Getaways! I still have it to this day. About a year and a half ago I stopped listening to AIO. I really thought that I was too old for it. Then I read this article about college students and even adults listening to the series! I then knew deep down in my heart that "Odyssey" was for all ages. I then started listening to the program again and I will never stop loving hearing that wonderful sound of the door-bell ringing to the entrance to "Whit's End"!
What is your favorite episode of all time?
My most favorite episode of all time would have to be
"Malachi's Message" 3 Parts and I also really love
"For Whom the Wedding Bells Toll" 3 Parts! Those are my favorite episode!
What is your favorite AIO web site?
I guess my favorite AIO site would have to be my own at: http://aioweb2002.cjb.net and my next favorite would have to be my best
friend Jeff Cunningham's site at http://aio.cjb.net.
If you could meet one actor, who would you meet and why?
I think if I could meet one of the actors on AIO it would have to be Paul Herlinger because his voice is so much like Hal Smith's and I really love to hear him speak. To meet him one day would be such fun. But I know if I don't meet him here on earth then I know I will see him in Heaven someday :)
Which character do you resemble the most and why?
I don't think I really ever resemble any character.
Except, Jimmy Barclay. I always really liked him when he was younger and I think a lot of what he when through when he was younger I went though growing up.
Who is your favorite character and why?
My favorite character would have to be John Avery Whittaker! Basicly, because when someone in Odyssey has a problem or whatever they seem to come to him for help and I really like that about him!
In your opinion, what do I need to change about my website?
I don't think anything needs to be changed. I guess some of the sound clips could be taken off and put on to the website. because there is not too much stuff that
relates to some of that about AIO. Except that it's a Radio Drama. But all in all it's a great web site!
If you could change anything about AIO, what would it be and why?
I wouldn't change anything, but allow some of the older AIO people to come back again and re-do some of their lines. Like, Lucy we have not heard her on AIO for years!
How do you imagine Whit's End and the town of Odyssey?
I really imagine Whit's End as at truly live place that people go to for help and a fun time to play around! In some ways I think of it as place that is all in deep down in our hearts we need to have a place to go to other then our home and Church to just hang out and be with our
friends. I think every kid and teen and adult needs that kind of a place!
If you had your own AIO site, what would you put on it?
Well as you know I have a
"Visitor's Guide to the Town of Odyssey" and also episode guides are really good to have with
detailed information. Yes my episode guide really doesn't have all the episodes (from the Present) listed yet but in time I will have that all worked out soon.
What is your favorite section of
whitsend.org?
My most favorite section of the
Official Odyssey Site would have to be the Library. Mainly because I love to hear and it's really neat to get Focus on the Family's point of view about the episodes and other stuff as well! I also really like
Wonderworld!
What is your favorite section of the Odyssey Scoop, my site?
I love the "Extra, Extra"
information about the site because it really gives a good look into what the fans think about AIO and of
course what Jacob Isom thinks about the show as well!
Do you have any comments or questions?
I guess I should say Jacob, keep up the great work and keep listening to AIO even when you are an adult! I am 20 and I think that it's important to always keep a little bit of AIO deep down in your heart! For your kids one day and even grandkids! I do have one question what inspired you to create an AIO site? There are many large AIO sites out there, mine, the AIOHQ and Jeff Cunningham's and of course yours "The Odyssey Scoop"!
Our Response: Well,
what inspired me to start an AIO site? Back in around October or November 2000
I was listening to Odyssey and suddenly had the idea that it would be
interesting if there was an online way to enjoy Adventures in Odyssey.
I had no internet provider at the time and I was in the dark about internet in
general. Fortunately, we purchased some internet connection and I decided to
experiment around with Yahoo! Geocities for about a month. My
experimenting was mostly on a website called "The Kisses," an
'official' site for the amateur dramas you can hear over at Sound
Clips. On December 22, 2000, I finally got bored with the limited-ness of
making a website about The Kisses and got an account to start building
an Odyssey website. At the time I hadn't even known that there were several
AIO sites on the net, and I certainly had no idea that there was an article in
Clubhouse Magazine called "The Odyssey Scoop," my site's
name. So there I was, thinking of a name, and finally came up with the current
title, thinking that I was a creative little lad who thought I was brilliant
with naming websites. You can certainly imagine my surprise when I later
discovered that "The Odyssey Scoop" had already existed on the net
and in a magazine when we subscribed to Clubhouse Magazine. I tinkered
around with logos for the next few months, became sick of Geocities'
constant advertising (sometimes with unchristian messages) and finally got
some webspace of my own in July 2002. And here we are, several years later,
with a totally better website design and the same 'copycatted' website name,
if you will. My apologies to Focus on the Family for stealing their idea. I
had no idea! I also had no idea that any other AIO sites existed out there
until around March 2001 when the site was just starting to gain visits.
