Will Whit Ever Get Married?

Well, I'm sure for all of you, you know
that many times we AIO fans believed that Whit was getting married. I
sense a few nods going around the world in agreement. Yes, we all
believed the first time in
Curious, Isn't It?
that Whit was getting
married to Emma Douglass. But then in the end, no, they were just
friends. Well again with Margaret Faye, we were crossing our fingers for
three weeks - hoping, praying, meditating with everything in us -
that maybe, just maybe, this time Whit would get married. We knew that
somebody was getting married, so Hey! why not Whit? But then again, all
of our hopes were dashed. Whit didn't get married, but he must have been
a charming enough of a man for Margaret to propose to him. Even though
she wasn't the most perfect person, we all believed (at least some of us
believed) that Whit and she could make it work. But again... no dice.
And to make us all suffer one last
time, in walked Mary Hopkins, a lady who Whit basically admitted to
reminding him of his wife Jenny who died. To me, if he would compare
some lady he just met with the woman who he loved the most in the
world, then he must have really seen something in Mary that he
liked. So, what would happen with Mary? Would they just be friends
or would he ask her out and perhaps pursue a relationship with her?
Maybe he planned on something more with her, but then when he got to
know her, he realized that she wasn't his type? As I think about the
facts in
Exceptional Circumstances,
Jason discusses
with Whit the idea that Mary was part of Novacom's schemes. So maybe
- just maybe - even though Whit told Jason that he didn't think she
was part of it, maybe he had his suspicions about her.
Now we have three women that could
have been possible prospects for Whit. Alas, so far it seems like
Whit would rather be single. Maybe it's the fact that he is so busy
with Whit's End and his other jobs that he just doesn't have time
for a love life on the side. Or perhaps he's just afraid of
commitment. Or perhaps he doesn't feel like he could ever love
anyone as much as he loved Jenny. Any of these things could be
possible ideas of why Whit has never remarried, but only time will
tell. Maybe Whit will remarry... maybe he won't.
I just wonder if he did get
married if it would completely ruin the show, kind of like the way
it would have if Connie married Mitch and moved to Budapest.
But I guess we will never know what would have happened if she did.
Well, Whit seems happy enough as a single man. So for the time
being, a "single" Whit is the best plan.
