What's Gonna Happen to Agnes Riley?
By Erin Jackson

That is the question that many fans are
asking. And will Agnes get better? It seems like she should, but
every episode proves that she's not getting better. I was
anticipating the episodes "The Pact, I&II", hoping that
Agnes would at least start getting better...but she didn't! She did
seem happier, though, at the end of the episode when she finds Jo. I was
so surprised at the way the story unfolded, and how ironic it was that Jo
was actually Joanne Allen!
The weird thing was, I thought Joanne
didn't really like small towns, and that she'd never been anywhere near
Odyssey! That's how I percepted it in the episode "The
Decision". Maybe she had just never been in Odyssey, and just
to the campsite that was near it, or maybe she just didn't realize that
she was that close to Odyssey, or perhaps the writers goofed! (Or, a huge
possibility, I may have totally taken the episode the wrong way! I'm good
at that!) Anyway, I didn't write this article to review an episode! I
sometimes tend to get off subject, which is very easy to do when you're
talking about AIO!
Well, the question remains, and will
remain until the day when the secret is revealed: What's gonna happen to
Agnes Riley? I personally hope that Agnes will get better, because I just
love happy endings! Not that I want AIO to end or anything, no way! I'm
just saying maybe AIO should write an episode where Agnes is healed, and
then make the story into teaching a lesson on the power of prayer, or
God's healing power, or both! I dunno, that's just my opinion! There's so
many things that they could do to make a great story out of Agnes's
healing, but they may have something totally different in mind! The
writers may have some more mysteries in store that may involve Agnes and
her sickness, which would be cool, but then in the future they should take
progressive steps to make her well.
She was such a warm character when she
was "normal", but she still is most of the time. She can't help
but be bitter and angry sometimes, but when you have that type of illness,
it sometimes tends to go to your head (no pun intended). She is a very
good character just as she is, though, since she is the only terminally
ill "regular" character on AIO. Teaching kids about illnesses is
very important, especially illnesses like Agnes's. Maybe it would be
good if she doesn't get better; kids also need to be taught that
God always answers prayer, but sometimes not in the way we expect,
as was taught in the episode "The Other Woman".
Well, we'll find out in due time what
will happen to Agnes Riley, but in the meantime, you know what you have to
do: Keep Listening!
