Life After Novacom

Jared Walczak, an author of previous
Extra, Extra's usually has a saying he writes in the introduction of his articles,
"This, like all my articles, has one purpose: to make someone laugh - even if the
only person who does so is me." Well, my
articles have another purpose, to make someone think, to grab out of thin air ideas and
concepts of Odyssey and give someone a prediction for Odyssey's tomorrow.
The Novacom Saga is reaching its final
chapters. Because of all the hype surrounding
the Novacom saga, fans are disregarding a thought, what will life be like after Novacom?
Novacom has definitely changed
Odyssey's life thus far, and no doubt will change it even further. Yet, will this have a greater impact on the
lifestyle of Odyssey citizens after Novacom dissipates?
When I examine Blackgaard's rein of terror and a few albums later, a lot
seems to have changed. The small town seems
to have returned to its innocence, even though the lessons taught were important and
vital. Remembering this is all theory, could
Odyssey become the same town it was before the Novacom Saga, small and innocent?
Becoming more specific in my
predictions, we examine the first episodes after the conclusion of the Blackggard Saga. If you turn to page 216 in your Complete Guide to
Adventures in Odyssey, you see the following, "After the intense 11-pater, which
included Blackgaard's death and the near destruction of Whit's End, we needed several
lighter-hearted programs to balance it all out
." Therefore, I would only assume
that we would have episodes, which I would like to label as "slice-of-life", in
the next season of Adventures in Odyssey.
Before I conclude my article, I would
like to examine one last aspect of life after Novacom.
In album 33, Virtual Realities, Blackgaard returned in the Imagination
Station. There was an overflow of criticism
for this episode. Some claimed it prolonged a
saga way past it's time. Odyssey writers do
have the option of reviving old Novacom characters later in the radio show. The last question to leave you with is this; will
the writers revive these characters later in the show or avoid criticism?
I feel the Novacom saga has been quite
short and do wish that it could be prolonged, for now, here are my predictions about life
after Novacom
