Focus
on the Family's repackaging of the Adventures
in Odyssey brand continues. With the release
of the new product image of Album 8, Beyond Expectations,
we're getting closer to a wrap-up on repacks...
but there's still a bit to go...
As many of you know, the Gold Audio Series
is on its way out there door. Albums 1-15 will
take on the repacked look of the entire series
but will include the same episodes and bonus
features of the original Gold series
releases. Collectors, be watching for
Beyond Expectations to hit bookstores and
online retailers in the coming months. Album 8
should arrive around January 2012 with other
albums to release periodically throughout 2012.
Check out our updated repackaging project
listing here.
Focus
on the Family's Last Chance Detectives
audio series featured a nice Adventures in
Odyssey crossover with actor Townsend Coleman as Jason Whittaker (in
the first of the three dramas). At the end of
the Spring 2004 season, the AIO episode No Way In makes a small reference to
Jason's last-minute departure from Odyssey to New Mexico. Picking up where the spring
Adventures in Odyssey season left off,
The Last Chance Detectives audio series
immediately kicked in for the duration of that
summer, featuring Jason making his way to the
small town of Ambrosia in which he is caught up
in an intriguing mystery. A total of three audio
dramas debuted on radio stations, with physical
audio releases available at the end of each
airing. And now, several years later, the audio
dramas are out of print and slowly being
forgotten. Or are they?
Enter digital downloads. Stay tuned this fall as
the
Focus on the Family Store will be
making The Last Chance Detectives
available for download in December. At the
moment, the third drama in the series, Last
Flight of the Dragon Lady, is the only title
available as a hard copy, so
grab your copy while it's still
available. Other online retailers still have
titles in the series available for those of you
who missed the excitement of 2004.
Stay tuned... We'll try and give you
up-to-the-minute news when these releases are
officially available once again.
What
do you get when the kids of Odyssey run their
own town in the woods behind Whit's End? A new
release by Focus on the Family, of course.
During the summer of 2008, the Odyssey team
released four books in their brand-new
Kidsboro series by author Marshal
Younger. And now in 2011, those four
books are now available in a 4-in-1 volume: The Fight for Kidsboro. This new omni-book
features an illustration by Odyssey artist Gary Locke
and prominent use of the Adventures in
Odyssey brand logo. In the past, the books
only contained a small mention of AIO in smaller
print on the cover. What does this mean? More
Adventures in Odyssey fans will be
introduced to the town of Kidsboro. What did
this mean in the past? Well, probably that not
as many copies were sold because they didn't
feature the AIO logo.
You can learn more about
The Fight for Kidsboroand access
ordering links as well. AIO's first e-Book
version is scheduled for a late October release,
so be watching for that if you're interested in
reading it on your mobile devices. We'll
certainly keep you posted in the coming days.

While The Amazing Loser
is fun and energetic because of the good performances, it is Dave Arnold and
Kirby Atkins who ultimately make this episode stand-out. The story is told
at a nice, brisk pace, and there's plenty of cool facts to enjoy and new
Odyssey locations to visit.Read

Today our second review for the Fall 2011 season
has arrived, thanks to our reviewer Ben Warren.
You can read our review
of A Penny Saved.
Luckily, Paul McCusker wrote this, and if he neglected to
create sympathy for Penny last season, he creates it here. I'll admit, it's
quite easy to feel sorry for Penny. She reminds me of some breed of dog,
like a Basset Hound, that you feel sorry for because they act and look so
miserable.Read

Today our first review for the Fall 2011 season comes
rolling in, thanks to our reviewer Ben Warren. You can read
our review
of Wooton
Knows Best, a la Scoop.
Marshall Younger manages to take a dull
premise, works hard at it, and creates a relatively decent slice of life
episode―one that includes important lessons for all ages. If you put aside
your initial prejudice for the story idea, or even your Wooton-phobia,
you'll see that―hey!―this is sorta like your everyday classic Odyssey
episode, isn't it?Read
