Just how dedicated
are Adventures in Odyssey fans these
days? You may be a little surprised.
Who drives over a thousand
miles to Colorado for spring break because of
Focus on the Family? Taylor University's
Adventures in Odyssey Club (AIOC), that's
who! On today's Christian college campuses, it
isn't hard to find people who grew up listening
to
Adventures in Odyssey. Many of us, however,
have continued listening to and loving the show
even as we've moved beyond the target age range.
The AIOC had its inaugural meeting in September
of 2009, and since then has grown—both in
numbers and in friendship. Once a week during
the school year, these die-hard
fans-turned-best-friends hang out, listen to
Odyssey episodes, drink Wod Fam Choc Sods on
special occasions, and, sometimes, make movies
(available on their YouTube
channel. They filmed two Odyssey
re-enactment videos last year, one of which was
entered into the Act Like Odyssey contest. This
year, their major video project was an epic one:
Star Trip! They spent hours practicing
lines, building sets, filming in several
locations, and trying not to laugh when the red
light was on.
We're beginning to wonder
if we're going to see any entries for our
FreezeFrame contest here at the Scoop. We
haven't received any entries yet, which means
your chances of winning are very high at this
point. There's no doubt in my mind that some of
you are still preparing to start on your photos.

With a season of Adventures in
Odyssey behind us, today we're proud to present our
review
of the 12-part mystery series:
The Green Ring Conspiracy.
Thanks to our reviewer Ben Warren:
By
Adventures in Odyssey standards,
The Green Ring Conspiracy
is a taut, engaging, and refreshingly complex audio dramatization. The story
drops us in a world that is always spiraling out of control; a world with
seemingly more questions than answers; one in which the more answers given,
the less we, and its characters, seem to know...

The
ever-expanding Adventures in Odyssey series is about
to get a new level of exposure this month. On June 14th, TLC
will air an edition of the19 Kids
& Counting TV show featuring—what else?—Adventures
in Odyssey!
In March, the Duggar
family (19 Kids & Counting) visited Focus on the
Family and even toured the Adventures in Odyssey
studio. Their filming crew has captured their visit on tape,
and a special episode will air on TLC on June 14th. The
Duggar family consists of Christian parents Jim Bob and
Michelle Duggar, along with 19 children (nine girls and ten
boys) who all share first names beginning with the letter
"J." Oh, and they happen to be big Odyssey fans as well.
So what does this mean for
Focus on the Family and Adventures in Odyssey? Well,
more exposure means more listeners. And with more listeners,
we can expect AIO to thrive as it always has (possibly even
more). As for Focus on the Family, with the show's
tip-of-the-hat to Focus on the Family and AIO, we can expect
new audiences to benefit from the ministry's impact.
19 Kids & Counting is currently in its
eighth season with more shows on the way. Be sure to tune in
for this special episode of 19 Kids & Counting on
June 14th. Click
