The Ceiling Fan Spins to a Halt

TUESDAY, AUGUST 30, 2011

Fans of The Ceiling Fan, you're in for a special treat with the Season 3 finale of the popular AIO fan podcast:

The touring hit wonder band, M'Kallister Park, performs their final tour song on stage. Then, the boys make a mad dash for it—to avoid their enemies and restore peace of mind. But will their escape plans raise them to more trouble? Features special appearances by Adventures in Odyssey actor David Griffin and band Hello Kelly.

You can listen to the latest edition of the podcast here. The season finale is certainly suspenseful, to say the least. If you're new to the show, you're more than welcome to catch up on episodes you've missed. We recommend listening to the show from the very beginning as it makes more sense that way and characters are developed throughout the series. Of course, you'll have to stay tuned for season 4 of this fan favorite!

New Character Illustrations Appear in The Blackgaard Chronicles

FRIDAY, AUGUST 26, 2011

Adventures in Odyssey products have featured artist Gary Locke for several years since the new package designs hit the market. Gary's work has certainly become an icon for the look of the Odyssey brand. The newest special release, The Blackgaard Chronicles, is no exception. After our post this past Tuesday, a few of you requested that we post the new illustrations featured within the attractive audio package, so we're taking you up on the offer.

From left to right: Richard Maxwell, Dr. Regis Blackgaard, Phillip Glossman.

Gary Locke also created his own version of "Blackgaard's Castle", which we're going to make you wait to see when you get The Blackgaard Chronicles for yourself. Actually, it's very reminiscent of an early illustration of Blackgaard's short-lived business, and—I think—very fitting.

Now Available: The Blackgaard Chronicles

TUESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2011

I hold in my hands a copy of the latest special album from Adventures in Odyssey: The Blackgaard Chronicles. For years, fans have been asking for a special collection of episodes devoted completely to the Blackgaard Saga, and the release of this awesome collection is finally here.

First, the The Blackgaard Chronicles features 10 CDs with over 13 hours of audio drama, 30 episodes—all packed into an attractive package. Second, a bonus DVD is included and contains a 30-minute conversation between Paul McCusker and Phil Lollar about the creation of this long-running saga. It's full of behind-the-scenes insights, illustrations, and more.

Perhaps the best benefit of the entire package (not including the awesome bonus DVD) is the inclusion of new illustrations of Dr. Regis Blackgaard, Jack Allen, Jason Whittaker, Richard Maxwell, and Phillip Glossman, among others. Gary Locke has done it again with his attention to detail in his work. In addition, the collection contains bios of the actors relevant to the saga.

And it's now available from Focus on the Family in hard copy form and as a download. For more information, visit our product page to access episode listings, product images, and ordering links. If you're waiting to get your copy, stay tuned to the Scoop. We just might be giving away a few copies in the very near future!

Edit: The Official Podcast has released a special "pop-upisode" of A Name, Not a Number to celebrate the album release. You can view the pop-upisode here.

We've updated the following product pages with high-resolution images of the repack covers. The images aren't final as they are a fan's rendition of the covers, but they'll make a nice placeholder on the following product pages:

Contrary to what we said in our August 16th post, it has been confirmed that the album repacks will contain the old version of the AIO logo after all. Please accept our humble apologies as we move forward. Continue to check back as we always have exciting news pertaining to the show of all shows!

Odyssey Repacks Continue, but with a Slight Change

TUESDAY, AUGUST 16, 2011

So what's the "Scoop" on the Adventures in Odyssey repackaging project? I'm glad you asked.

Many of you have been collecting the repacked Adventures in Odyssey audio collections featuring illustrations by artist Gary Locke in recent years. Fortunately, the repack project is well underway, with some minor revisions. In a preview blog post, we predicted that all titles in the AIO brand would eventually feature the newest rendition of the Odyssey logo, including albums 1-50. If you'll recall, it was decided that albums 1-50 would contain the logo prior to the current one, and for many albums, we saw albums treated as such. Well, my friends, it looks like our predictions were correct. Album 29, Signed, Sealed & Committed, will feature the same quality illustrations by Gary Locke, but with the new logo treatment. What does this mean for existing album repacks? It's time to get them updated with the new logo. In the days ahead, we can probably expect to see the new logo featured on existing repacks in the future... as well as future repacks.

What does this mean for AIO collectors? I guess it will take a little longer for the die-hard fans to get that consistent look for their favorite brand sitting on their bookshelves. And for the extremely die-hards who collect absolutely everything, this will be another item on the checklist that never seems to get completely checked off.

You'll notice that Signed, Sealed & Committed features a new illustration. This album repack will be available mid-September.

As for me, I enjoy the series for the show's content, and not for the outward package design. Ultimately, the compelling drama does all the selling—and that's all that matters.
