"Welcoming Wooton" seemed
like a big change for AIO, in my opinion at least. The first time I heard Wooton's
behavior and generally 'sweet but not too smart' attitude, I thought, "Is AIO trying
to portray some sort of mentally challenged character?" I didn't think it was very
smart of them, considering what happened when Officer David Harley acted the way he did.
Only time will tell if there are complaints on Wooton's character.
After hearing the episode a second time, I decided I
liked Wooton Bassett after all. Over the years I have realized that when I hear an episode
for the first time, I am judging it. I am just naturally like that. I pick at things the
first time I hear or see them. But now that I've heard "Welcoming Wooton" three
times, I now enjoy Wooton's nice attitude towards people and his speedy talking. It sounds
funny to listen to because he never stops for punctuation! I think that was very creative
of Adventures in Odyssey incorporating that kind of character into the spotlight. It looks
to me like he'll be around for a while and he'll fit in just fine.
The first time I heard the episode, I was annoyed that Whit
wanted Wooton to work at Whit's End. For the reasons stated above, I didn't like his
character. Thankfull I really enjoy his character now! There's just one thing that bothers
me so far... Where's Eugene? This season has felt rather out of place without Eugene. He
was in almost every single one of those stupid fifteen minute stories last year!
