EMILY!! :D

We normally talk after PF calls a meeting. But, you can also post random things that you saw or heard that reminded you of Emily. :)

Good to have you, Bethany. I like you both as a person and as a poster, so it's lovely to have you.
Since a meeting has been asked for....

Emily first appeared in, as we all know, Game For a Mystery. There, she starred with Matthew. Since then, she hasn't been in one single show without him. Do you think they're a good pair? Do you think Emily might have been better paired with another character? How have Emily and Matthew developed each other? Should Emily get to be in an episode without leaning on Matthew? Do you think Matthew is nuttier (power-hosing dishes, thinking a clock might have a giant knob) or Emily (climbing in a tree to spy on Matthew.)
Do you think you're more like Emily or Matthew?
Note: You are not required to spend an eternity answering all the above questions, just answer one or two instead and don't wear out the letters on your keys. Oh, and you won't be shot if you just talk about whatever Emily subject you like, this is only a starter. Although I do like shooting people... Anyhow, let's get started.

I think that Emily and Matthew work really well together, they have always struck me as having that kind of perfect guy/girl friendship that's really rare. They understand each other and know each other well enough to not be super offended if the other person does or says something that would be taken as mean by anyone else. And they don't have any of the romance which would seem so forced in their particular case. I haven't listened to every Emily episode (I have limited funds at the moment) so I still don't know every part of their friendship, but I think that the Odyssey writers have started something really great. As for another of your questions, I think I am more like Matthew. He strikes me as laid-back, and willing to go along with Emily without a lot of argument. I also am more of a techie kind-of person, I enjoy learning how things work, especially computers. And to wrap up this post:

I think Em and Matthew are a PERFECT pair! Matthew keeps her beyond cuteness under control! I think it would be kinda cool if one of her cousins took Matthew's place for a episode! One that can't stand Emily or something! That would be a fun episode!

If I'm at home with my family, then I'm most like Emily. Otherwise, I'm like Matthew.

This pretty much sums up my feelings. While Emily is a bit more serious than Matthew, he still understands her, which is especially evident in When You're Right, You're Right. I really don't know who I'm more like between the two. I like figuring stuff out, but I have limited patience, so if it takes a long time...also, I'm awful with mysteries, as proven every time I read the Jones and Parker Detective mysteries in Clubhouse.

My main similarity to Mattew is his weakness for wisecracks and occasional cluelessness. When it comes to his tinkering side, sorry, but Emily's right. Mr. Matthew, you are from some galaxy far, far away. And what I mean far.
Emily... where do I even start? She has to keep a firm grip on her life and despises it when she can't keep everything just so. She can be very kind and patient but if she blows her top look out run from the lava and jump for the nearest bomb shelter. She enjoys books, she likes to be analytical, and loves to be around her best friends.
Bethany, that idea is genius. Imagine Matthew trying to solve a mystery with someone besides Emily.... if I wrote an episode like that, I might have it be Valery.

The most interesting part of the Matty & Emmy duo is that they are total opposites. Complete and total opposites. This is often done on AIO, with Lucy and Jack, Lucy and Curt, Sarah and Jared, and Mandy and Liz. But I think the Mattso/Emilo combo has been 2nd to only Lucy & Curt in all of those examples. I dislike the Jones & Parker Detective Agency episodes, but I still think "Square One" and "Something Old, Something New" show that the writers weren't far off when they paired Emile with Mattile. Matthew is not just a replacement for Sam Johnson: Sam Johnson never mimicked Eugene, (though Nelson Swanson did, in a far worse manner than Matthew) Sam Johnson never used dry humor, and Sam Johnson was always a bit of a "goody-two-shoes", something Matthew isn't.

Hmm. Jared could be very interesting, paired with Emily and Matthew. I'm not quite sure why, but I also see Jay Smouse adding an interesting dynamic to the agency. I'm not as well versed in the newer AiO as some, but Emily and Jay haven't interacted that much, have they?

Welcome back, Liz ol' pal. I've missed you, you debating never-bending logician.
We were talking about who would make a good addition to the J&P team. Of course, it would be hilarious if Harlow did a mystery with them. That's my dream episode. It would also be interesting if the not-yet-heard Jules joined at some point.
In any case, it's time for a new topic. (Though you can post about the previous on if you have some thoughts.)

Are Emily and Buck a good pair? If not, who should she be paired with?

logician?? lol I'm glad to be back too!

Ohhh... That sounds like a good topic! Sorry I missed it :? Though I think a toss in of Harlow would be humorous for an episode... Maybe two... But after that it was just get kinda stupid and irritating... Harlow can tend to grate on my nerves sometimes.

I think Emily and Buck could make a good pair at some point... (though Buck is no where to be heard!)
I personally see Emily and Matthew being an item someday. Right now it seems positively silly... But they are great friends! I see they're relationship evolving somewhat like Jack and Lucy's. They're both gone from Odyssey and discover that they like each other a lot more than just friends.
Just an idea ;)

You could hire Dr. Frankenstein, T.S... I hear he's very talented at that sort of thing. Though if you do, you could take your project over to your side. Just saying.

Pound Foolish, my oh my. I never thought I would see the day that a bunch of other topics would stack on top of the mighty ERK. (Translation: Yeah! They're done with the immaturity!" )

It's time to see the handwriting on the wall, sir. Your mighty empire has crumbled. The ERK site has not been updated since May, and the KREers have invaded this topic. All good things must come to an end, I suppose..... Though in Great Expectations Emily improved in my sight. Hopefully this will continue.

This 'empire' has not crumbled! Emily is still the BEST character in the little town of Odyssey!
PF, we should talk about putting something up on the site...
