How was your Sunday? What did you learn?
Do the high churches individually have their own hierarchy of saints that only they venerate?
What is Theosis?

I didn't actually learn much during Liturgy, I was very distracted. But after Liturgy I was cooking some curry in the parish kitchen for a discussion later that night and I was reading a book called Voyage to Alpha Centauri and it really made me think a lot about technology, the rise of modernity, abortion, and what makes us human. Then after that we had the discussion group on Stem Cells and that was very enlightening.Miss Friendship wrote:How was your Sunday? What did you learn?

High churches do have some Saints that are unique to them. The Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox have their own Saints from after the Schism that only they venerate.
Theosis is full participation in God's nature. C.S. Lewis described it better than I can.
C.S. Lewis wrote:The command “Be ye perfect” is not idealistic gas. Nor is it a command to do the impossible. He is going to make us into creatures that can obey that command. He said (in the Bible) that we were “gods” and He is going to make good His words. If we let Him—for we can prevent Him, if we choose—He will make the feeblest and filthiest of us into a god or goddess, dazzling, radiant, immortal creatures, pulsating all through with such energy and joy and wisdom and love as we cannot now imagine, a bright stainless mirror which reflects back to Him perfectly (though, of course, on a smaller scale) His own boundless power and delight and goodness. The process will be long and in parts very painful; but that is what we are in for. Nothing less. He meant what he said.

How do you read a book and cook at the same time?
Wow. That is an amazing thought.
Have you ever seen someone who looks just like one of your friends/people you know but wasn't them?

I was making curry which requires the lentils to soak for a long time in a sauce so while that was happening I read.

Have you ever read some of your old Answers and wanted to edit them some??? Which answers?
What is a question you thought someone would have asked you by now?
Did you ever hate your eye color?
If you could never wear a green shirt again what color shirt would become your favorite???

What is forever..? I shall see you again. Just after the mist has faded and time has stopped, over on the other side. Enjoy your journey and I'll enjoy mine.

I do read through some of my old answers but I'm actually happy with all the answers I've given so far.
I thought people might ask me more about the debate class I teach or about moving to Canada.
No, I like my eye color actually.
Blue, I actually wear a lot of blue already.

Do you check MD or SS more often?
What would it take to convince you to make a post in the Counting to 100,000 in Hillingdale Haven on the ToO?
Last book you read?
Three most interesting people on the SS? *steals this question from Ox*
Do I have any potential of being a good debater or am I hopeless case by now?

But has it really?
Not even close, keep asking.
I use The Daily Beast and whatever my friends post on Facebook and Twitter. I also read a physical copy of the Economist.

Do you ever get tired of explaining about Orthodox things?
Do you think I will ever see the Apostolic Tradition the way you do?
What is the first thing online you check in the mornings?

What are you going to do up in Canada again?
Have you traveled to many of the historical sites in your state?
Do you enjoy history?
Why don't EO churches use instruments?

Have you had different avatars on the ToO? What did you have before you converted to Orthodoxy?
Do you still communicate with Sixth? What does he think of the EO's?
What do your Protestant friends think of the Catholic and EO way of doing things?
What will you likely be doing in Canada? (like everyday)

Next month I'm going up for a week long visit to this program http://livedtheologyschool.org/ I'll be seeing what a normal week will look like when I'm living up there.Isaiah the Ox wrote:What are you going to do up in Canada again?
I've traveled to most of the historical sites in my state, I've gone to all the Civil War battlefields such as Manassas, Harper's Ferry, and Antietam. I've also gone to Jefferson's home Monticello and Washington's home Mount Vernon.Isaiah the Ox wrote:Have you traveled to many of the historical sites in your state?
I really enjoy history, growing up and moving around a lot meant we traveled to a lot of historical sites. Especially when we lived in Europe. I've also always enjoyed reading history and those classes were my favorite too.Isaiah the Ox wrote:Do you enjoy history?
That's a good question, we don't but I'm not sure the exact reasoning behind why not.Isaiah the Ox wrote:Why don't EO churches use instruments?
I did, before I became Orthodox my username on the ToO was Ayn Rand and I had a picture of her as my avatar.Miss Friendship wrote:Have you had different avatars on the ToO? What did you have before you converted to Orthodoxy?
We still do communicate but not as often now that he's busy with school. He thinks I'm silly and that I believe in made up things.Miss Friendship wrote:Do you still communicate with Sixth? What does he think of the EO's?
Most of them don't care, some of them think it's too odd and not Biblical but most of my Protestant friends are fine with it.Miss Friendship wrote:What do your Protestant friends think of the Catholic and EO way of doing things?
I'll be finding that out when I go next month, from the conversations I've had it sounds like most outreach occurs Thursday-Saturday and the rest of the time is spent preparing for that.Miss Friendship wrote:What will you likely be doing in Canada? (like everyday)

Have you ever tried any arguments for the existence for God on him? @Sixth
What are your top favorites for historical sites in the world? Ever visited an concentration camp?
Who do you think will be the next President?
Do all EO nuns dress exactly the same? Are there EO monasteries? Are they like the monasteries in the middle ages we read about?

We've had a lot of discussions about this over the years.Miss Friendship wrote:Have you ever tried any arguments for the existence for God on him? @Sixth
The city of Prague as a whole is an excellent example of a medieval city that has survived relatively intact with a lot of unique architecture. I really enjoyed visiting Hadrian's Wall in Scotland, castles and forts are a lot of fun to visit. The Acropolis of Athens was also amazing, such an old structure and on a large hill in the middle of the city. I have visited a concentration camp, the Ravensbruck concentration camp.Miss Friendship wrote:What are your top favorites for historical sites in the world? Ever visited an concentration camp?
I think Hillary Clinton will be the next President.Miss Friendship wrote:Who do you think will be the next President?
They do, here is a picture of some EO nuns.Miss Friendship wrote:Do all EO nuns dress exactly the same? Are there EO monasteries? Are they like the monasteries in the middle ages we read about?

There are lots of EO monasteries and they are very similar to monasteries in the Middle Ages. Except the ones you're reading about are probably Roman Catholic ones.
