Speaking of...how is tithing handled in your church?

Does your parish support any missionaries?

Would accepting John Walton's view on Genesis break you apart from the Church Fathers?

We pass around a collection plate during Liturgy, people can also set up automatic pay through their bank, or give through PayPal. The dioceses assesses dues for each member on our rolls each year to fund the bishop and dioceses activities.

My parish supports several missionaries through several organizations; Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) and International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC).

As long as you believe in Ex Nihilo the rest is up to debate.

So, you keep track of what everyone gives, and have a church tax? 0_o

Is it okay for a Christian to taking interest on something?

What should a Christian do exactly, in government? When I think of a Christian being in government, I think of some extreme (I don't know the word...) "Fundamentalist" who will basically outlaw anything they don't agree with... :anxious:

No, so we have a list of who is a member at my parish and at the end of the fiscal year the dioceses assesses something like $50 for each member that is usually payed by the parish out of money donated throughout the year. We are probably going to move in the direction of just giving a percentage of total income from each parish to the dioceses.

Do you mean interest on like a loan?

My personal philosophy of government is that it should only do what is necessary to prevent injustice from reigning.

Does it bother you to kill bugs? Not even a twinge of remorse?

Do you have any advice on how to deal with despair and anxiety?

It does sometimes but most of the time no.

I found this talk by Elder Porphriyos and I found his advice very helpful. http://orthodoxhealing.blogspot.com/201 ... ssion.html I was especially surprised by his advice to the girl at the end to devote herself to music as well as God. But I would also add, this is super hard but it does get better.

I have listened to Ted Talks, I like some of them but now it seems like anyone can give Ted Talks but that's mostly because they've franchised out to Tedx Talks which aren't real Ted Talks.

I have not but I think I'll have to at some point once I move up there.

I like hearing more mainstream ted talks though. Why don't you like that anyone can give them?

Because there are no standards for them and some of them tend to be pseudoscience or just feel good mumbo jumbo

MF: How much do you know about Helios?

Woody: Let's see. I know you survived her
drama, I know she's a danger to
society, I know she's a lie, I know
Belle is unfazed by her wrath, I
know she has ox horns, and I know
I should beware of her.

(And she is also my enemy. )

I'm listening to Audiobooks these days but before that yes, music.

I think it's a good film, very well made and for the day the practical effects were amazing.

I do, why does that surprise you?

You missed Mandy's questions...

Isn't Ben-Hur a "Christian" movie though?

What is your favorite of all the movies that depict Christ?

I don't know. We go to Costco a lot. Do you try out those food sample things? Or eat there?

Why would you need a bike in Toronto?

I do read a lot of fantasy books but I read all kind of books.

Just never saw the need.

Favorite thing, your enthusiasm. Least favorite, you not being around more.

Is Ben-Hur a Christian movie?

Probably the Passion of Christ.

I do try the food samples and I have eaten there before.

To go places.

Well it seems Christian since it includes Christ himself.

Do you think of me as MF or Countess?

How many internet tabs do you usually have open on your computer?

Do you have an air-conditioned house?

Ever watched "The Gospel of John"?
