You can have crushes at 8 or 9 years old.

I'd call it "precocious", personally, but not anything out of the ordinary for an eight- or nine-year-old girl. The only reason why I objected to calling it "adolescent" was that the term "adolescent" refers to a teenager, not a child Camilla's age.

That is true. *nods* I just thought there was some doubt here about whether 8 or 9 year old girls could have crushes.

Technically adolescent refers to people going through puberty which can be early...

So...your descriptor regarding Camilla's crush on Buck rides on her going through puberty at age 9?

Perhaps this is my bias talking, but I find the idea of Buck and Camilla to be pretty skeevy. He's twice her age, for one thing, and she's constantly hero-worshipping him, acting like he hung the moon, so to speak. (I know that for adults an age difference that wide isn't that big a deal, but we aren't talking about adults; we're talking about a child and a young teenager.) I just don't see the appeal of that kind of relationship; even laying aside whether or not it would be healthy, it doesn't seem like a realistic expectation. I much prefer the idea of Buck being like a cool big brother to Camilla; that seems like it could be pretty cute, judging from what we've seen so far.

I don't think that approach would work because of her apparent affection for him.
