Album 59: Taking the Plunge Discussion

That's right the album's called Taking the Plunge, and it's only six episodes long... >.> Hopefully they'll put out two, six episode long albums next year, if not Focus is going to get an Email from me. =p The title alone is just bad. Album 58 spoilers in the spoiler:
I was talking to Gooey98, and he said that this album might be about Wooton and Penny's wedding. Which I think is what the album most likely will be about.
Anywho here's the cover.

The cover is interesting. First of all, the main characters are Wooton and Penny. In the background behind the dunk tank you can see Red Hollard, Eugene and Buck. The cover made me think of Uncle Archie's carnival, but of course that's totally impossible. There have been other carnivals in AIO before...off the top of my head I think of Like Father, Like Wooton and A Carnival of Secrets. But those could have actually been Uncle Archie's Carnival--to my recollection, they were never named.

Is that Buck in the background? I thought it looked more like Jay; I don't think we have any official artwork of Buck.

Meanwhile, I don't think "Taking the Plunge" is a stupid title at all; considering that it's probably going to be about Penny and Wooton's commitment to each other, I think it works very well.

I find the cover art to be interesting. Penny is aiming the ball at Wooton, ready to send him into a dunk tank, but it hasn't been thrown yet; Wooton's in a precarious position, and Penny is in a tense one. I think this is symbolic of how on-the-rocks their relationship status is, and I think it's pretty brilliant in this regard.

I have heard that is Buck, people said that there was a picture of Buck in Clubhouse. Taking the Plunge isn't necessarily a "stupid" name, but I just don't associate Taking a Plunge as an album title as a good thing. It just seems like an odd name to me, but that's just my two cents.

I can confirm that unless the editors of clubhouse made a major mistake, that is indeed buck in the picture. In the November issue of clubhouse, in the interview with Robby Bruce, an almost identical picture is labeled as Buck.

Hmm... interesting. The title implies that Penny and Wooton will indeed be getting married, but I hope it doesn't happen too quickly. Though the lesson about commitment likewise implies that much of the album will be centered around Wooton and Penny wrestling with the decision. I could actually see this getting boring after a little while, so I hope AIO finds creative ways for them to make this big decision. And, if the rumors are true, I'm very pleased that Buck is back. For some reason I thought of his appearance as a one-time thing for Album 58, but now that seems stupid of me since he's living with the Meltsners, after all. I hope this album will be a little better than 58, and that there will be episodes devoted to characters other than Wooton and Penny, so that us no n-OAC members can check up on the rest of the Odyssey gang.

Oh yeah, and what the heck is up with the 6 episode thing? Is that just because they did a 14-parter last time? Oh, who am I kidding, it's that darn Odyssey Adventure Club. I'm almost tempted to beg for the money and join the stupid thing, since he episodes in it looked super interesting. But... no! I won't give in! Never! If AIO continues this 6 episode garbage for Albums 60 and beyond, I'll shrivel up into a ball... or else join OAC.

And they continue to rub us fans the wrong way. We fork out more money for the same amount of episodes because each half is packaged as its own thing now. Though I try to see a positive light to everything in Odyssey, this is (or appears to be) one of the worst decisions they've ever made.

AIO seems determined to make bad decisions. It may be time for me to consider quitting AIO altogether if this trend continues.

Maybe the reason they're only doing six episodes is that they want to wrap the Penny-Wooton [censored] up and then move on.

You can't just assume that it will cost the normal album price. Never assume.

You can't quit AIO, because you aren't a part of AIO. You can only choose to no longer associate with or care about it. It's not like it's some sort of threat to quit AIO or something.
I also don't agree that AIO is determined to make bad decisions. Perhaps they don't have enough money to produce a full album next year. Perhaps they'll do two half length albums. We really can't say at this early time.
As far as stories go, I'm glad they're trying new things. AIO would have gotten stale a long, long time ago if they kept everything the same. Wooton's character had started to get a little bit boring, and I think this will make him more interesting. I also think what we're assuming the storyline to be will provide great learning opportunities for kids that will be helpful later in life.

The title reminds me off The Deep End. Anyway, they idea doesn't sound that bad.

Hey, maybe this time a romance can be successful without a "long, drawn-out, seemingly-never-to-end engagement". \:D/

Yeah, I know. It took AIO 11 years to officially marry Eugene and Katrina, and only about 2 or 3 of those years were in uncertainty of whether they would get married. Let's hope for a slightly shorter period of decision making for Wooton and Penny.

I think Taking the Plunge is an excellent name; especially if it's about Wooton and Penny's wedding. It would definitely be a "plunge" for them. But a sPLIT ALBUM??? *cries*

Sorry if I came off a bit defensive and harsh, I was just frustrated by other people's words. I don't mean to start an argument.

I hope the un-aired second part of this album won't have the episode with Penny and Wooton's wedding.

Where did it say that there would be a second part of this album that would be unaired? I never saw that anywhere.
ArnoldtheRubberDucky wrote: It took AIO 11 years to officially marry Eugene and Katrina
Eugene met Katrina in Truth, Trivia, and 'Trina, which was aired January 1994. They were officially married in Plan B Part 1:Missing in Action, aired January 2002. That's only 8 years. They renewed their vows (or at least, came close to doing so) in For Better or For Worse, which was 11 years later, but they were married in Plan B.
It took 8 years. Just a technicality.

By quit AIO, I meant quit anything associated with AIO. I would have thought that would be obvious.
