#1005: My Hero Renee

Post

The final episode of Album 78, featuring the finally-now-appearing-in-the-mainstream-episodes character Renee D. Carter!
This episode was interesting. I loved that we hear Whit being on the board at Campbell County Community College again! This is something we've known about from way back in Album 5, in the episode "Eugene's Dilemma". I'm glad that we hear about that again.

As for the rest of the episode, I liked hearing Renee's story progress. She has definitely grown since her first appearance. She has admitted that she is "searching" and not fully committed to either side. I'm interested in seeing where she goes from here.

I'll need to listen to it again before making any final judgements.
Anyone else have any thoughts? Let's discuss!

I finally got around to listening to the second half of album 77 and all of 78, but this episode stood out to me for several reasons.
First off it felt like what you'd imagine when listening to Odyssey, but it was also the only one in the album that seemed to have a proper conclusion. the other episodes feel like they're just a part of a bigger picture, like they're the 2nd part of a 3 part episode. although it seemed strange to have it last, it make sense due to the more positively optimistic ending. however, I imagine this would be the 3rd episode on the album release.

It's a nice follow up to "The Heaven's Declare" which looking back could, to borrow the colloquialism, have perhaps used a little more time in the oven, and I can definitely see how Renee's journey is similar to that of both Connie and Eugene. Like Eugene she's not against the idea of faith, but like Connie she doesn't want to be forced fed life lessons and bible verses.

Whit was pretty on point in this episode, if you know Whit then he way he seemingly throws Renae under the bus only for her to realize that he was just quoting her is just the sort of thing you'd expect him to do. it's the same reason I wasn't too surprised when Whit voted for the club. By doing so some people might stop and think, "hey, why did a guy known for his beliefs vote for a group that's against faith" it could ultimately lead to others wanting to learn more about God.
