#1014 Just Another Day

Alright, gang. The Rydell Saga continues to relentlessly steamroll forward, leaving behind a trail of shattered potential, destroyed character development, and questionable creative decisions. Yet, I can't find it within myself to stop listening. So, I'm curious, what are your thoughts on the most recent installment.

It goes without saying that the road leading to this episode is messy. I've made my thoughts on this arc pretty clear and am openly critical of how Whit's character has been scandalized. HOWEVER. I am going to take this episode at face value. And honestly, I like it.

I genuinely like Morrie and Suzu as characters. It was honestly kind of refreshing to get to have them as main characters without Emily around.

While I am endlessly frustrated that the levity of Morrie's actions in A Sacrificial Escape and Further From the Truth have yet to be properly addressed, it is nice to see his character grow and even benefit from having Whit as an influence. Honestly, it is satisfying to see Morrie discover he can bring out the good in people by being the good.

Furthermore, it is exciting to watch the rift forming between Morrie and Suzu. Perhaps the biggest moment of the episode comes at the very end, with the reveal that Suzu is still in kahoots with Mrs. Maido.

In the end, the Rydell Arc will always be a little bit devastating for numerous reasons. I diagnosis it with Disney-StarWars-Sequel-Trilogy-Syndrome, lacking a strong vision from the start to help guide it. However, I do like the direction Phil Lollar is taking things. Excited to see where things go.

I need to listen to this again. At some point. As I have stated before, my investment in this ongoing Rydell arc has greatly diminished. But I do have some thoughts on this episode.

I thought this episode was basically like "Have You No Selpurcs?" with Whit having Morrie and Suzu going out to do some tasks and facing ethical dilemmas along the way. The way it was done here was more modern, though. I don't remember if I thought it was too similar, I need to hear it again.

The store owner (I don't remember his name) was funny, I liked him! I hope that he appears more in future episodes.

As one who has read and studied the subject, I approve that Whit taught them the cardinal virtues! Very fun to hear, virtue is something that everyone should be thinking about, I like how they incorporated it here!

The tables have definitely turned in terms of Morrie and Suzu's behavior and reactions to Whit's teachings. And why is Suzu talking to the criminal?? I am interested in seeing where this goes.

Overall, I need to listen to this episode again before forming an opinion.
