Who's your favorite Disney Princess?

Who's your favorite Disney Prince?

Who's your favorite Disney Villain?

What's your favorite Disney movie?

What's your favorite Disney song?

What's your favorite Disney romance song?

What's your favorite Disney villain song?

And since you like questions so much, you can also list your least favorites of all of those ^^^, and why you chose them. Or, you don't have too.

Fav: She's not really a princess, but Mulan. I love the story and I also love the history of the ballad the movie is based on.
Least fav: Sleeping Beauty. All she does is sleep for pete's sake. Talk about passive heroine.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:Who's your favorite Disney Prince?
Fav: Aladdin. Because he's awesome, obvi!
Least fav: Hans. What a jerk.
Isaiah the Ox wrote: your favorite Disney Villain?
Fav: Scar. He's just got that "cool villian" vibe going on.
Least fav: Claude Frollo from Hunchback. What an evil, misogynistic, vindictive person.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:What's your favorite Disney movie?
Fav: UGH THEY ARE ALL SO GREAT I DON'T KNOW THIS IS TOO HARD.
Least fav: Probably Peter Pan because that movie is ridiculously racist.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:What's your favorite Disney song?
THERE ARE SO MANY I CAN'T CHOOSE.
Least fav: Probably "What Makes the Red Man Red" in Peter Pan because that song is ridiculously racist.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:What's your favorite Disney romance song?
Fav: Probably "Love is an Open Door" from Frozen.
Least: Any of the ones in the older princess films, really. Ew.
Isaiah the Ox wrote:What's your favorite Disney villain song?
To be honest, the villain songs are usually the most boring in any given film. Except for Gaston's song. So I gotta go with that one. Although Cruella De Vil is also a good one.

Why can't you let your daughter go to a Christian preschool and then train her to think otherwise at home? :P

I looked up the X-files and they looked kind of boring. *hides* Give me the jist of the story.

When it comes to education, specifically at a young age, I'd much prefer it came from a secular worldview. For instance, if they have a science unit and the only thing they learn that week is that we were created by God, in my opinion my daughter learned nothing of value to further her education. She learned religion. Sure, she could come home and I could explain to her that some people believe in God and they believe God is the creator. And I could explain that scientific explanations are different and then we can learn about evolution and such. But then why am I paying for someone else to educate my daughter if she isn't even being educated in a way I think is appropriate and proper? If my kid wants to try out a Sunday school or something at a church, fine, let's go for it! That is a great place to be learning about the Christian religion. But an educational setting isn't where I want my daughter to be taught things I think are wrong. "Yes Talya, we love your teacher but what she taught you about X is incorrect." <- not something I want to deal with at this age.

There are also a lot of things I don't want my daughter learning from someone in authority. Concepts of original sin or Hell, for instance. Or restrictive gender norms and stereotypes. I've heard stories from other secular parents who put their kids in Christian preschools that just make me cringe and I don't really want a part of it. I also know the kinds of things I learned about in Sunday School as a young kid and it's kind of horrifying thinking back on it as an adult. This is a ridiculously impressionable age for children and it would cause me so much anxiety to not know what my daughter is being told on any given school day that could really affect her negatively. I really don't want to have to undo the work of her educators.
Miss Friendship wrote:I looked up the X-files and they looked kind of boring. *hides* Give me the jist of the story.
I thought they would be boring, too. But then I started watching and now I'm hooked.

Basically the TV show is about two FBI agents (Dana Scully and Fox Mulder) who are in charge of the "X-Files" unit of the bureau. They investigate paranormal or inexplicable crimes. As the show goes on, they start uncovering this vast government conspiracy to keep the public unaware of extraterrestrial life and such. But most of the episodes focus on individual cases they are investigating.

Yeah, I get that. At this age they are impressionable. But will you be teaching her about all other religions when she's older so she knows?

Does your daughter enjoy watching movies yet? :P If so, which ones?

That's the plan. I am a huge religion nerd and love learning about religions so I definitely plan for her to have a full education when it comes to religion.

Most of the time she actually watches YouTube videos, which is kind of weird lol. Either that or TV shows. But she does watch movies on occasion. We have a few Disney movies she watches sometimes, like Lion King, Ratatouille, Toy Story, etc. And she really likes these weird Garfield movies they have on Netflix.

No more or less sexist than other movies from that era. \:D/
Dom wrote: A lot of people say that; what do you dislike about country music?
It all sounds sorta the same to me. Also I just don't really like the style in general. There ARE a few country songs or bands I enjoy selectively (The Civil Wars is sorta folk/country and I like Lady Antebellum for the most part). But overall I'm just not into the genre.
Dom wrote:Oh? Which city, and why?

Coincidentally, since that last post this has actually come to pass, lol. The city of my choice would be Seattle (which I am actually moving to like ... now). And because it's liberal and diverse and cultured and it's by the sea and the mountains and my family lives there and I love it.
Dom wrote:How short? Did you like it? How long is it now?

A pixie cut. The shortest I had it was like ... an inch. It's at my shoulder blades now.
Dom wrote:Do you feel too old for this board?

Sometimes, yes.
Dom wrote:What's the last amazing thing you experienced?

Today/tonight I experienced saying goodbye to a lot of co-workers/friends who I love and admire.
Dom wrote:Do you think you are a motherly person, in general?

What do you mean by motherly? I am not the kind of person who wants to raise a brood of younglings and stay home baking bread and kissing bruised knees and that sort of thing, if that's what you mean. However, I am kind and enjoy taking care of and protecting the people I love.
Dom wrote:Do you think the internet is a dangerous place for kids, even when "supervised"?

As with anything, there are risks. But overall, no. I don't think it is particularly dangerous, especially if you equip kids with the tools and knowledge they need to stay safe.
Dom wrote: If you and your husband parted ways, would you get a divorce?

Probably. I would not feel the need to stay married to him if we were no longer in a romantic relationship.
Dom wrote: Do you two have separate bank accounts?

Not right now. But when my husband graduates and we are both working, we are going to separate our finances and work on more of a partnership situation rather than a "pooled resources" situation. We will have separate accounts and each pay an equal percentage of our household expenses and then the rest will be our individual money to spend/save/use how we wish.
Dom wrote: I believe you said you are the breadwinner...how would you feel if he went out and say, bought a small boat, or a car, or even a big screen TV, without consulting you, using "your" money?

With the way our finances are now, I don't consider it "my" money. It's our money. But I would not be happy. I would ask him to return whatever item it was that he bought unless he had some REALLY URGENT AND VALID reason that he needed to buy said item RIGHT NOW without consulting me. Also, my husband wouldn't do this, so this is definitely a very hypothetical situation. ;)
Dom wrote: Does he feel guilty for staying home?

Nope. Nothing to feel guilty about. He provides full-time childcare for our kiddo and does full-time school, both of which are work in and of themselves.
Dom wrote: Did you know this would be the arrangement before you married?

We didn't. I actually stayed home with our daughter for the first year, and then when I went back to school full time it made more sense for him to stay home with her.
Dom wrote: Do a lot of people judge you/him for it?

Not a lot of people, but we have received some less-than-flattering comments from people.
Dom wrote: Do you feel you get enough time with your daughter?

Not currently. But that's part of the reason I'm changing jobs and we are moving. My current work schedule doesn't leave a whole lot of room for family time.
Dom wrote:AM I GETTING TOO PERSONAL?

Nah. I'm an open book.
Dom wrote:Do you like to color?
Yes.
Dom wrote:What is your favorite juice?
Orange.
Dom wrote:When you go to the bank, do you get a sucker?
Yes.
Dom wrote:What do you wear on the weekends, is it different from work days?
I actually work on like ... 60 percent of my weekends. :P But honestly whenever I'm home, I'm in my PJs or sweatpants.
Dom wrote:Do you feel on top of your life?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
Dom wrote:What was in your wedding bouquet?
I don't even remember. It was some generic bouquet from Costco I think, lol.

*high five* I mean, I have a very strong mama bear side where I get extremely defensive over people I love, even if normally they are "the strong one" or someone I respect, etc. I have a fiercely protective side. But cha, I don't ever want kids and I agree with everything you said above.
kait wrote:I actually stayed home with our daughter for the first year, and then when I went back to school full time it made more sense for him to stay home with her.
My brother's wife opted to work and it pretty much comes out that her paycheck pays for daycare. Not to mention the gas and professional clothes she has to pay for on top of that, I see why it could make more sense to just have someone stay home with the kid.

We have. Since I graduated. I just took us a little while to get into a position where it would be feasible. As to how it came about, I started looking for jobs and I got the third one I applied for, gave my two weeks notice at work and started my new position last Monday. Voila!
Dom wrote:Tell me about some of your your liberal views?
Not sure what there is to tell, lol. I'm pretty far left in my views. Lotsa Democratic socialism in there. Social justice. Etc. Etc.
Dom wrote:*high five* I mean, I have a very strong mama bear side where I get extremely defensive over people I love, even if normally they are "the strong one" or someone I respect, etc. I have a fiercely protective side. Ditto. I am incredibly protective of those close me. THE MAMA BEAR AWAKENS.
Dom wrote:I see why it could make more sense to just have someone stay home with the kid.
Yep. Childcare is so astronomical it really ends up breaking even (or even losing money) unless you can manage to make enough for it to be worth it. At least until they are in school.
Dom wrote:Did you grow up in Seattle, or will this be your first time living there?
I did not grow up there. I've lived most of my life in the Pacific Northwest, though.
Dom wrote:I've always wanted tooooo. :boohoo:
You've always wanted to live in Seattle? O.o
Dom wrote:You'll have to tell me if the weather is like they claim.
Lol. I haven't lived here before, but I'm still very familiar with it. There are, on average, 152 sunny days a year in Seattle. The rest are gray and drizzly, with a few days that are actually pouring rain (that is less frequent). The spring and summer are absolute dreams here. So gorgeous. Perfect weather.
Dom wrote:Are you there now?
I am.
Dom wrote:What do you think?

Dom wrote:Did you forget anything important back home?
Well my husband and my daughter are still living in our old apartment. :P We are finishing our move this weekend, though, so they'll soon be with me.
Dom wrote:Did you drive or fly?
Drove. Seattle is only six hours from where we lived before.
Dom wrote:Did you pack yourselves or hire people?
Pack ourselves. I don't trust moving companies :P Plus why pay someone for something I can probably do better?
Dom wrote:Did you clean out tons of junk or just bring every last thing?
We have given away a TON of stuff. We have taken three car loads to the thrift store and we'll probably have more this weekend. And we sold almost all of our furniture.
Dom wrote:Are you an organized person?
For the most part.
Dom wrote:Are you into Pinterest?
I enjoy it. But it isn't a form of social media I spend a whole lot of time on.

Ooh, tsk tsk. Such frivolity!

What is your view on abortion? If parents fight all the time, what do you think would be better for the kid...having the parents stay together as a family, or to split up? Do you prefer steak or chicken? Do you sun tan? Would you consider yourself a SHALLOW PERSON? What is something you recently discovered about yourself, unrelated to moving? Are you a child at heart? Give examples. Who does the grocery shopping for your family? What kind of living situation do you have now...house, apartment, family? Are you into jewelry? Any plans for Valentine's Day? Are you a realist or a romantic? What is your first thought when someone gives you flowers?
