The Rapture..

What do you believe and why? Here's the place to discuss anything relating to church and God.

As I said, I can't prove a negative. The lack of documentation is evidence enough, otherwise we need to accept the Easter Bunny.

But something I was talking about with Blitz, if there's the Rapture before the Second Coming then didn't Christ come back two times?

Christ will touch the mount of olives when you mean 2nd coming. But it said we will meet God in the air. So how do you explain that?
Lack of documents is evidence? Really?

The Easter Bunny is real, prove me false.

So because Christ doesn't physically touch the ground it doesn't count?

Prove me wrong.

That seems like you're twisting the definition of returning.

I'm not twisting it.
Return means to come back.
Christ will return for his church, the 2nd coming, the rapture.
Then He will come again or return...but you better have received Christ that time, after the tribulation.
I will see you again tomorrow.

Will Christ's return after the tribulation be His 3rd or 4th coming?

See you tomorrow.

This is why I didn't want to engage in this debate again. The doctrine is complex. According to the doctrine of the Rapture, if you believe it when we are raptured, it is not the second coming.
1 Thessalonians 4 is where a lot of the doctrine of the Rapture comes from. Also the parable of the 10 virgins is another, the Olivet discourse, Matthew 24:32-44, and Revelations, 16:15.

But why isn't it the second coming? Just because Christ doesn't touch the ground?

What?

OK, I think I'm going to spell out what I believe in this topic.

Timeline:
1. Jesus comes back and takes his followers, alive or dead, to heaven.
2. Satan is bound to this planet for 1000 years while the books are opened i.e. God lets us see his judgements
3. Heaven moves to Earth and Earth is recreated.

Yes. That is why it isn't the second coming.

Mr. Whit's End thank you for laying that out clearly. I don't agree with that since I don't believe in the 1000 year part. But could you clarify something for me? I've never heard the phrasing God let's us see His judgement, could you expand on that point?

Blitz, I think that's semantics. If Christ comes to the clouds and takes everyone with Him then that was His second coming.

God opens the books, basically lets us see why so-and-so is in heaven, or why whoever isn't in here even though he appeared to be a devout Christian.

As in we get to see why X is in heaven, or why Y isn't. Basically, the Book of Life gets opened.

Haha, no. In the passage, where the scene of the judgement comes from it compares us to sheep and goats.
Christians the sheep, non-Christians the goats.
