VERY IMPORTANT ODYSSEY QUESTION

ok, I've been listening to Odyssey for the majority of my life. Even though I'm now an adult, I still find myself playing it in the background when doing menial tasks, falling asleep, etc. Well, today, I was listening to today's radio episode, the Green Ring Conspiracy Part 7. I'll set the scene.

Emily meets Buck Oliver at Whit's End one morning to search for his lost Appleberry cellphone. I've heard this episode probably five times before. What's the big deal, you ask? Though it is mentioned in other places, this is first time I've noticed...why on earth is Whit's End open in the morning???? Surely the GLUTTONS of Odyssey are gorging themselves on Raspberry Ripple Sundaes and malted caramel milkshakes in the waking hours of the morning????

I feel like SOMEWHERE it is mentioned that Whit sells coffee, but I can't even begin to think of what episode that might be. pLEASE SEND HELP

I believe it's mentioned in at least a few episodes that you can get tea or Coffee at Whit's End, although I can't remember the exact episodes, I do recall various characters (such as a few of the police officers) picking one up. it's probably not an official item on the menu board, but more a 'word of mouth" type thing. how else would the coffee line from "Hold Up" make sense. I imagine Whit's End is open in the morning for a few reasons, one being for tourists and people passing through who might want to check the place out, I mean, wouldn't you want to?

If I remember the episode correctly, Mr. Gottlieb ("No Stupid Questions") used to get coffee at Whit's End.

From a practical angle, I imagine with such a large building and so many things to maintain, there's a lot of work to do, and it can't hurt to have extra time to prep for when things are busy. And if they're there anyway, they might as well sell to anyone who happens to drop in.

It'd also help to have a more open schedule during the summer and holidays, when things are busier (all the kids being out of school). I don't recall if GRC is set during this time, but that would be interesting to check into.

At any rate, there are a lot of reasons to drop in besides ice cream, or for that matter any of the things that they sell there. Rec centers, museums, and libraries are open in the mornings; Whit's End has as much in common with those as an ice cream parlor or soda shop.
