So, I've been wondering why there isn't a topic on the Peanuts Movie. And then I realize oh, people probably expect me to make it. I wonder why.

The trailers are awesome. I've loved every one. They're true to the characters while truly their own thing. The Charlie Brown's head balloons, the fence falling, it's things like that that make this feel different from the cartoons. While good, the cartoons just copied the strip verbatim.


I think Peanuts is brilliant. It is the finest strip in all of art. (Not Calvin and Hobbs, darn you!) It does what few pieces of art can do, engaging as humor, intellectually, and spiritually. For instance: Linus' crippling name-it-and-claim-it doctrine of the Great Pumpkin, hoping to claim gifts in return for his "sincere" faith is as profound, sad and funny as anything in the strip. Lucy's satire of aggressive men haters who fancy themselves feminists is as amusing as her unrequited love for Schroeder that increases her aggression and men hatred is heartbreaking. Snoopy of course is the hilarious free spirit we all want to be while Charlie Brown is we actually are.

I've heard nothing but good things about this movie so far. Critics love it, youtube loves it, audiences love it.

Whether you want to talk up the strip or the movie, go ahead! It's the Charlie Brown and Snoopy show.

This is one movie I want to watch. This and the angry birds movie which is coming next year. Excellent graphics in both of them.

Thank you for making this topic, Pound Foolish! I was fortunate to be able to see this movie on opening night in 3D, and it was AMAZING!
The characters were good, the scenery was amazing, and the characters were funny! The only one thing I would say that I didn't like about this movie is that it lacked a bit of a plotline. There are only three smallish plot lines whatsoever in this movie: But what the movie lacked in enthralling plotlines, it made up in animation. The animation was the best I've ever seen. You sometimes just want to keep watching the movie to see more of the animation.
But, overall, this is one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time, and highly recommend you see it.

It's amazing! I enjoyed every minute.

When I first learned of this, I thought: yay! Then I learned it was Blue Sky, and I thought: Noooo! But then I found out the Schulzes were writing it, so I thought, "Huh." Then I found out Steve Martino was directing, who directed Blue Sky' one, single excellent film, Horton Hears a Who. So I thought, this could be saved! Then I saw the first teaser and wow. Just wow.

This is everything those trailers and reviews promised. Funny, touching, loyal to the characters. Snoopy is a bit too loyal and kind, where Snoopy tends to be more inconsiderate and free spirited in the strip. Still, overall this is a more successful translation of the Snoopy of the strip to cartoon form, capturing his energy and charm. At least the entire cast is here, most of the cartoons and films use only a few. The animation is unlike anything. The dotted eyes, like the strips, convey moods though they're just dots. The backgrounds don't move, like the cartoons. And this is the first film ever to effectively blend the comic medium and the animated film, resulting in an entirely new visual experience. (We see thought balloons, lines indicating movement, words like "bonk" appear, etc.)

One minor complaint is it's clear Snoopy's World War 11 flying ace gig is entirely imaginary. In the strip, it's more of a Calvin and Hobbes thing. (Other characters even ride it, such as Marcie, Schroeder and Sally.)

Other than that, this movie is indeed, as the title proudly claims, by Schulz.

Still haven't seen this... I want to seen this. My students and I have decorated the classroom all peanuts style, it's cute. =D

Definitely in top five best movies ever. That's all I have to say about it.

Wow, Baron! I wouldnt' put in top five, but maybe top ten because bias.

It was kinda lame, but even so it was pretty good. My mom sure loved it. She even danced on some of the pieces. It was just heartwarming.

I haven't watched it... But I want to because Kristin Chenoweth is in it.

I really liked this movie! It was simply adorable. And all the little Easter eggs that only true Peanuts fans would get were great too! Sally was my favorite as always. (I played her in a blackbox a couple years ago) Chuck was hilarious. All the characters were really very accurate!
