I may have accidentally started a NaNoWriMo story...

Lock yourself in a room for a month. Starve yourself. Torture yourself. If the idea is still there, well, then suffer.

NaNoWriMo is an abbreviation for National Novel Writing Month, which takes place in November and, as Blitz said, is when people try to write a 50,000 word novel in a month.

I don't think I'll do Wrimo, unfortunately. I have other writing priorities. I may give it a shot as a goal to fall pathetically short of, who knows.

Is NaNoWriMo only a once in awhile thing or you can start an account any month and do it?

Once every year, it is.

MF, NaNoWriMo is the National Novel Writing Month, and that month is November. So, the goal is, to start and finish a 50,000+ novel in the month November. To answer your question: no, you can't start any month, it has to be in November.
