I like psychology a lot. I read this one book that had the Myers-Briggs personality test in it, and I found out what my type is, and it described me very well.

Here's a simple version of it:

4 Dimensions
(you are either one or the other in each of the four categories):

I=Introvert> Need to recharge after being with people
E=Extrovert> Get your energy from being with people
-
N=Intuitive> Big picture person
S=Sensing> Detail person
-
T=Thinking> Make decisions through logic
F=Feeling> Make decisions through emotion
-
J=Judging> particular about how things are, by the book type person
P=Perceiving> easygoing, go with the flow type person
-
So looking at the list, what do you think you are (taking one from each of the 4 categories)?

[by the way, no one type is better than the other, though some may be more rare. Also, people keep the same personality through their lives, but they can learn to wear a 'mask' of another, like an introvert that has to be an extrovert for their job, or someone who is a big picture person forced to concentrate on the details for something. You may even become quite good at putting on this face, but you'll never be completely comfortable acting outside of your 'true self'. At least it's how I understand it from the book.]

I think it's interesting to try to figure out what type someone else is, though you're the one who's most likely to know yourself.

I find this stuff pretty interesting too, I've done an online test, but I don't know how accurate it was.

I am INFP. Which annoys me greatly sometimes because I am idealistic to a fault. Various other things annoy me about myself too. Including the fact that I get so easily annoyed at myself (yes, I should not post this late at night). But I do like my imaginative side. I am very much an F which means my emotions take over and sometimes I wish I were more logical. Anyway.

I've gotten a couple different results for the various online tests I've done, they were iNFJ and iNFP. I must say that I am much more a J person than a P person though.

I took the test when I was probably 13 or 14 and I was an ISFJ. I took an "unofficial" (non-paper) version recently and I am still an ISFJ, just less extreme with it. Some of my personalities types are closer, like my I and an E.

It's really helped me a lot to understand the people in my families personality types so I can not be annoyed by people if they are more big picture and I love details or whatever haha. My uncle is big into personality and his job deals with it. Sometimes it's super interesting, but it's a little much sometimes when we start separating the family into teams based on personality types for games haha.

If I were to be anything else, it would be INFJ.

I studied Freud for a psychology class. Rather interesting, but weird. I read a lot of a book by Carl Jung, which I liked better. The Myers Briggs personality test is actually based on his theories.

@GG- At first I thought I was an INFJ but the INFP ended up describing me a bit better. I do like things to be organized but not too organized. Like when I go on a trip, I like to figure out what I'm doing as I go along rather than plan ahead. I think my J inclinations come partly from being the oldest child.
Also, INFPs have extroverted Intuition and introverted Feeling, which definitely fits me. I like to express myself creatively but not necessarily spell out my true feelings unless I know someone well.

Side notes:
Whenever I think of Freud now, I think of Freud's Last Session, a play I saw in New York 2 years ago. It's based on the possibility that CS Lewis visited Freud at some point during the London bombings. Most of it was them debating their very different philosophies, lots of food for thought. I wish I remembered more of it.

Also I have been wondering what the Odyssey characters' personality types are. It would be fun to guess; I haven't seriously tried to yet. I'm not sure if I'd guess 'right' though.

Does this have anything to do with the four personality types: Choleric, Sanguine, Melancholic, and Phlegmatic? Just wondering...
