I've read through old debates on HP from here and the ToO. It's a riot.

My favorite thing ever is the HP thread on the ToO where you basically say "please don't turn this into a debate on HP" and then it immediately turns into a debate on HP.
I hope your finals were't horrendous.

I mean, it was supposed to be an HP fan thread; if somebody wanted to throw another tantrum about how evil the books supposedly are, they could do it elsewhere.

Actually, while I no longer think its sinful to read or enjoy books with magic, I still don't have a solid argument to prove wrong those who think it is.

They are indeed.
Such wonderful, imaginative, and insightful books. I should read them again over Christmas break.

I know, they truly are.
Are you reading them for the first time? What books have you read so far?

Over Christmas break I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It was SO GOOD.
Now I've started Chamber of Secrets. ^.^

I am so happy for you Bethany, you're in for quite an emotional journey.
I read The Children of Húrin by J.R.R Tolkien recently, a prequel to Lord of the Rings. It was most definitely exciting, a thrilling story that I wasn't prepared for. I found the metaphors within to be thought provoking, and seriously loved Beleg, a kindly elf in the story. I'm off to read more fantasy now.

So I started reading Harry Potter Book 2 *can't remember the name* and I only read like five chapters before it was due back at the library so I never finished it.
APPARENTLY it wasn't grabbing of my attention enough.

This is one of my favorite books of all time. Beleg is so beautiful and pure. He was too good for the world.

So, I finished The Chronicles of Narnia... AMAZING!!!!!! They are the only fantasy/sci-fi books that I liked, besides Tom Swift and A Wrinkle In Time.
